I picked up another mQX yesterday, and find it more "active" in low rates compared to the first one I had.
Can't even use the high rate.

when I flew my replacement new mQx after losing the first, well worn copter, I felt it was smoother, faster, better all around. The motors were more balanced and had better response. You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!

For some reason, I find that when I am hovering tail-in and doing "stationary" flips and rolls, the front still gets more "damage" (bent props, motors needed to be pushed back in, gears needing to be pressed back in) than the rear,
and the right front gets the most damage (also a small crack in the landing gear/gear housing).

I use a Hitec Tx with a DSM2 module and fly at 125% rates on A, E and R,
and 100% on throttle.
I used a GWS servo tester to measure the signal timing on the Tx:
A: min: 104?uS - center: 1498(to9)uS - max: 195?uS
E: min: 102?uS - center: 1480(to1)uS - max: 195?uS
R: min: 101?uS - center: 1474(to4)uS - max: 192?uS
T: min: 114?uS - max: 185?uS

where ? is a digit that is changing too quickly for me to read.
There is some right Aileron and right Rudder trim added to get a stable hover.

I have an option for even higher rates for A,E, but these start "penduluming" more on me after a flip or roll, especially it seems as the battery gets more discharged.

Some of you may have heard of an mQx clone called the V929 Beetle (used to be called Ladybird):

compared to the mQx, it is much less expensive, but also has certain "quirks", like automatically flipping when using full stick at the 100% rate.

Anyways, my reason for mentioning this clone here is that many of the parts seem to be interchangable with mQx parts. Some known differences are the Rx board, main frame and wire plugs from the booms to the board.

I can see parts being sold here:

the parts are less expensive than "official" mQqx parts,
but this particular vendor may take awhile to ship things to you.

An example is 4 motors for ~US$16 (V929 pictures show 11 teeth on the pinion gear, but one thing to note, no differentiation between motors for CW rotation versus CCW rotation).

Jul 18, 2012 update: The motors are now differentiated for rotation, but from Banggood's Beetle description and list of spare parts, and confirmed by erdnukel2, the Beetle's motor wires have the opposite color coding from the mQx: red/blue for a CW prop (CW when viewed from the top, also known as an A prop) and black/white for a CCW prop (B prop).

Any other LED kit options for the MQX now that SF Design Solutions is closed until October? I just picked up a replacement MQX and really would like to put some lights on it for orientation and night sorties. I lost my last one due to losing orientation...
