so i guess the black and purple motors are 2300kv?

Rc castle says the black and gold are 2300kv, but someone posted pics of those motors showing 2200kv on the box. Black and purple are still 2200kv 1st run motors. Until BH says or proves otherwise.

I received my BH plane today and have a couple of questions. First, I know there was initially some confusion as to which way the ESC bay panel was supposed to face. Which way was determined to be correct? Also, does anyone see an issue with the servo wires running through ESC bay and the proximity of them to the ESC's with the heat they will generate?

My motors are the purple can ones as well.

New addition to my fleet.

Thanks to Wargassm. I picked up one of each color scheme at AMA 2012.

First flight was last Saturday. Tried 3 different batteries. 5000 Sky Lipo, 4000 Gens Ace, and 4500 Genesis. I am flying 155mm to 160mm CG.
Genesis from BH has the most kick amongst the 3 packs.

Balanced the fans and they are quiet comparing to HETs and RCL fans.
SU35 is faster than the LX Mig29 with HET powerplants. I think the STOCK powerplants are very good for the money. I would not upgrade them.

V8, was that with the extra cables or ESCs alone?

If you can't weight them without the soldered wires, can someone else do?

DamonH and Antaeus, you seem to have your planes still out from the box (Antaeus, you mention you bought two airframes maybe the second one is yet to build) so could you weight the ESC alone as they come raw with the kit?

Thanks!

That was with the motor wires & battery wire. You can not remove em unless you clip em off.

Wouldn't think those -60g make that big a difference on cg/battery location...guess so.

This is where my cg is at 150mm (below)

So I took a gens ace added weight to equal 800g, put a back of battery tray & still can't get a cg @ 150. Cg is @ 160-162mm with 800g.

All of these numbers are a single EDF Fan/Motor setup. They are not exaggerated numbers because if you search Het 2W25 and Wemo across RCG many get around the same numbers putting these together themselves.
Mark from ExtremeRC is just much better at it putting together very good PnP drive setups so I get what I can from him if I just want it to work without me tinkering.
The Wemo/2W25 weighs only 187g, 12g more than factory but put out at least 1.8 kilos even with bad setups at 60amps.
The appeal to me is I can roll back on the throttles to a combined 3Kg and be burning less amps than the factory setup that still can't even get to 3Kg.

Thats why I picked it. And notes he used 25C batteries. These are just light and efficient.

Mark was surprised that the new CS fans and his secret motor actually also put out 2kg each at 60amps. Generally it needs more watts and my only reason for not choosing his was he only sells them with the alloy housing and the AUW on them are 225g. So using them would add 76g in the tail but now with more clarification on which batteries you used and where you placed them I realized I actually could have gone for them if I really wanted that turbine sound.

I posted the 155mm CG reference point. Do we all agree that that is the 155mm CG?
If so its not a matter of just getting batteries around a certain weight but where you place them relative to CG makes a big difference.

I'm not sure again your understanding re batt weights because moving CG ref point forward 155mm to 150mm, you would need even more battery weight not less. If you moved to 145mm you'd have to move that 842g battery forward to the bulk head. Balancing CG further foward is a more stable nose heavy setup and will need more weight to balance.

10mm (155mm-145mm) makes all the difference at CG and that is closer to the planes neutral. The battery tray is some 200mm-250mm at the strap forward of CG-155mm so ever little gram can exert a lot more force. A lighter battery full forward can exert the same force and a heavier 15mm back.
But if you don't include V8 like you reported, having a separate BEC and Battery and where you positioned it, or anything else you may have added or removed, it can look very different but is actually bang on.

To get consistent clear estimates, you need to be using the same reference point. You both seem to be using the pic I posted. From there you need accurate battery weights and then where you placed the battery in the tray.

I understand the battery weight and where to move em around according to cg. I'm trying to keep my cg @ 150mm. I know I can go to a lighter battery if I use a 155mm cg, but id prefer to keep it @ 150mm. Just personal preference. I just don't understand how some are getting 4000-4400mah balanced @ 150-155mm. Just asking.

I trust your specs on the wemo. Just wondering if that with single or dual specs. Since those are similar to the CS 10 blade I'll just stick with the CS, if & when they arrive. Thanks Max!
