Well it took the better part of the afternoon but I finally got the nose gear mounted, the steering servo and linkage installed and the two nose doors adjusted, and dialed in. Got em' working real nice. I was playing with it this evening and I sat back and held the transmitter and retracted the gear a bunch of times making airplane noises like I was 10 years old again

Area rule is in effect for all modern jets. You just don't see the wasp waist because it is incorporated in the layout of the jet from the beginning. In the 50's, they drew plans for a jet, then "pinched" it. Now, it's in the plan from the beginning.

Can't say that I've done that recently, but does raise the important question -- were you going "growl" or "whoosh" -- sorry but it's hard to describe the acutal sounds.

But I'm thinking of "Thunderbirds" versus "Jet Pilot" versus "Top Gun".....

You hit the nail on the head. If you look at almost all low wingers you will see large area ruling. High wingers not so much. It's about fluied dynamics of which I am an novice.

i dont really see it in the F-35,F-22 ...but i guess i need to look at the cross section like you talked about.
