Great job Steve. The FJ1 is also one of my favorites. The lex does move the CG forward, I am glad you got it worked out. A bigger, much heavier model would have probably not survived .

LEX means Leading Edge eXtension

On the FJ1 it is the section ahead on the wing, at the root. One of the most common examples would be the F/A-18 Hornet.

The next flight will be video'd.

A big FJ-1 will be awesome. Here's an idea of where the CG will need to be placed..........don't go anywhere near tail-heavy!

Indeed, it makes me question my conclusions. But you can't argue with the facts.............. it went from an out-of-control monster to a sweet flying pussycat.

I have heard of others like this, namely the Polikarpov i16, needing the cg almost on the leading-edge.

Normally my guess would be an incidence issue requiring additional nose weight however knowing Steve's tremendous building skills I doubt that is the answer.

these small models tend to need a farther fwd cg than larger models. plys all that fat fuse forward of the cg changes things a little....panthers are the same way...they like the cg way up there.

The repairs, paint, pilot and noseweight has brought the AUW to 78g.
