Hi Guys

I just wondered if anyone would be interested in the Disney F3P model I know Gary Holland has one on his blog but I couldn’t see a general thread on the indoor forum. We have just weighed the foam parts you get in the kit and it all weigh in at 33grams, sounds light to me I wonder what you guys think.

If I may, I will answer this one.

The JR DS 188 has the best centering and speed of all the sub 7 gram servos that we tested. If you study the equipment list that Jurgen provided you will also find another DiSney. This one used lighter servos for rudder and elevator and came in at 87 gram. Interestingly, he flew at the Electric Indoor Masters, one week after the German Indoor Championships, with a Euro coin taped to the C/G of the plane. You may not believe it, but you can make a DiSney to light!

that does not only apply to the Disney, but also to other models. I remember that you already had this issue once before.

P.S.: It is usually easier to add some ballast than to add "lightness".

Disney is quite a large model so even with standard gear it has quite a low wing loading.

DS188 (318 here) is hardly heavy though. Gain a couple of grams at most using these on elevator/rudder over D47's and 101g is still very light.

I was stood at the far right of the flight line on one of Derk's flights at EIM and was amazed at the crispness of the 1/4 roll on the downline. Combination of rigid ailerons and a decent servo.

The 80% AS3X Disney is very cool although I would have thought it would have flown even more precisely given the gyros etc.
The most sensible use of this gear I've seen so far and more impressive than the Beast.

The video is just the first flight, lots of things to adjust. The 3 axis gyro makes it a bit more work to setup correctly.

Keep us updated please Bert. I bought an stripped a few of the old UMX's for the electronics; thinking of doing the same with the new Beast 3D.

Thats really good work Guys and only a few weeks after I heard Dick and Derk talking to Mike McConville about this at the EIM. I really hope Mike likes the concept so we can see a BNF version in the near future.

I assume the AS3X equipment is fixed in terms of Gyro gain etc so harmonising things may have to be a compromise of mechanical travel against gyro performance to get the best from it. It would be Interesting to compare a None AS3X version also. Its worth noting also that the use of Gyro's is banned from competition anyway but what a great training machine and at a sensible size for storage and Transport in and out of the halls.
