Not yet.
Two stroke is building Carbon one for flying (making hinges and instaling gear)...
And building SC's for Austrian customers. Not enough time for flying.
Today I ordered servos for my model. Eventually we will have some more time to get video material.

And. We are buying a used Stalker pro2 or Decatur's Prospeed radar gun if someone know somebody to have one for sell. We are interested.
But for now we only have "data" from second Stormchaser's flight:

A couple from about 9 years ago, carbon, foam, steel, alloy, wood.... not pretty but fun. The big one carried a lot of energy, I would never build that big and heavy again without brakes.

Here is my first foray into crunchy planks. Its a foam filled scorcher wing and a cut down fuse. I chose the foam filled wing for the plank because I know its probably going to crash and what better wing to test than solid foam! It's not a flank foil (rk40) so I have no idea if it will fly- I'll just set the cg foreward and use a bit of reflex and see what happens. Looks cool at least though I reckon!

Totall destruction of my moulded plank!

I flew my moulded plank Circa at the Bora Slopefest last week and it went very well. My festival flying buddy Pismo took the sticks a couple of times and did some fine trimming and gave me some much needed flying coaching at the same time. It was very fast, carried its energy fantastically in huge pumps. In short: it did all the right things that a good flying plank should do.

However, on our last day when we had really good wind gusting up to 30 knots with huge lift, I flew it one more fateful time. I was circling it inverted at high altitude and decided to pull up elevator to do a slow half loop pull out into upright position, losing height while doing so. I have done this many times before. However, this time, it began the first part of manouvre ok, rotatiing through about 90 deg. before it stopped responding to tx. control commands. (I was continuing to pull the elevator stick back!). This meant that it continued to plummet vertically at terminal velocity, or nearly so, into the face of the mountain. When we found it, it was a mess of debris with little salvageable. A sad loss!

The only explanation I can think of is that it was a rx. failure. However, there is no way to be sure. The battery pack checks out ok.

The good news is that I have the moulds and I now know it is a well proven design. It handles fine with no vices apparent. So I will be laying up a light one or two sometime in the near future.

All part of the hobby I guess!

What news of the Avalanche?
Has it flown yet?

What gyros did you use for the elevon set-up, & did you mount them angled slightly off the centreline to obtain also a relatively modest ( c.f. roll axis) amount of operation in pitch?

Been drooling over lots of nice models here :-)
And I'm finally looking to acquire my 1st crunchy plank (as economically as possible) for the 8-20mph slopes. Any suggestions for retailers or individuals in the US?

Some discussion about the likely reason for the crash has been posted on the ManillaFest thread.
I'm now fairly convinced that the servos stalled! I won't repeat what was posted already, except to say that the new replacement plank will have some stronger and better servos than this one had!

Jim.
