Hi guys
Great team work. Good feeling flying your model for the first time. Love the spots you guys have. Amazing. Seemed to be very smooth DS zone and a clear shear. Well done. Congrats.
Now you do need to buy a RADAR.. So you can chase records.
What was the wind speed that day.? OH and where are those spots

Yes I know. I want to buy a decent gun(700$+). But brother wants to invest money in gear and materials. So now he is thinking in pocket radar
The wind was blowing 8 to 10 meters/second. Not much

Spot is near our house. 40minute drive to the spot + 15min of hiking.

The storm chaser looks good in the air & does a mean 1 point landing
what elevon travel & CG have you got ?

Exponential.

When a servo's operation is "geared down" by using the shortest possible servo horn and a long control surface horn, some positive exponential has to be programmed in to cancel the positive exponential effect.
This is something that I often forget to do and had some bearing on the elevator sensitivity (twitchyness) of my plank on the maiden flight reported in an earlier post.
On the second flight, I reduced elevator deflection rates too much, and I was not getting sufficient control in pitch to pull the plane up at times. I landed my plane rather hard in (fortunately) soft soil this way!
My take home conclusion here? The elevator deflection rate (most often referred to as "throws") needs to set very carefully and with some degree of judgement. And some exponential is very usefull.

Hi Jim.
All our planks are set up this way , and I don't know any that use expo. The main reason for this is to get resolution (100%) so it makes planks fly a lot smoother. And you dont have to run you elevator at low % of travel. Keeping resolution.
Just have to be a bit carful with negative expo. Can make it Very responsive around 50% stick travel. Thus causing pitching at speed.( depends on % of expo..??)
Depending on the hight of your control horn , easier to set up no expo and fly triple rates. Also are you sure you CG isn't fractionally aft..?? .5mm does make a difference.

Yes, I should have said positive exponential. I'll edit my post.

edit: The CG on my plank might be a bit aft. I'll try trimming it very slightly forward.

Gyro settings

Well made some steps forward with the Gyro set up, I re watched AVB 's video & got the general Idea of what will happen , Ian has this set up on his D60 for roll, so I sort of just copied that for pitch

1. have been able to get an off position on my right slider middle de-tent, have mixed aux3 to rudder @ 15% both pos (HH)& neg( Rate) , some of my earlier problems where never using gyro's & not quite understanding how the settings work

2.then there was the big problem of the centreing of the elevators, this turned out to be easy , I have turned them OFF so they don't move opposite the flap , so I run the flaps down for brakes & the Gyro's in HH/Rate mode will move elevators to compensate the pitch change , this is like a conventional plane with tail but it all happens on the wing

well that's the theory anyway !

even though the Gyros are small it will be a pain in the butt to get them in the fuse on the CG or close to it, as this is the only place that they will fit side by side

Hi
I got CG 3,5cm from the LE that is 20% ,the elevon travel are about 6mm up and down...


Thank you guys for congrats,now its time to build havyduty one and get the radar

That's along way forward , and 6mm is that for ailerons ??. What's elevator travel ??.
In a big front side dive that must be pulling up buy it's self a lot.??

The front side test dive show a straight line,ailerons and elevator are the same and got 25% expo..
