what charger parameters for AA batteries with orion advantage charger
hi all,
I would like to charge my GP2700 AA batteries  with my orion advantage charger  do you think I could charge them at 2A or more with a delta peek at 0.5 ? regards LV |

If you want NiMH batteries to last, you should never charge them any faster than you have to.
That said, it's not a good idea to charge below a 0.3C rate if you're using a delta V charger because the charger might not detect the delta below that rate. And it's widely accepted that you should never exceed a 1C rate. For 2700mAh cells, 0.3C = ~.8A and 1C = 2.7A. If those were my cells I'd charge them at 1.3A and set the delta at 4mV/cell. If the charger false-peaked I'd go to 5mV. Pete |

You should be able to do 1/2-1C OK so 2A may be fine. I'd watch them for heat the first couple times.
No idea on Delta-v setting for that charger. Looks like you have a thermal probe? If so, I'd use it and keep the temp under observation. Lots of info here. http://www.hangtimes.com/rcbattery_faq.html |

Thanks guys,
I've 6 charging at 1.4A peek 0.5 (0.3 and 0.4 didn' work) and tempreature is aprrox 24°c, have got a 12v fan blowing on them ! next 6 pack will be at 2A just to try. I'll keep you updated. LE VARAN |

Be aware that being 2700mA in a AA they've tried to cram a lot of energy into them making for high impedance. My experience with this kind of hi-cap AA has been disappointing - high self discharge rate, and low performance. About the only AA cell that seems to live up to those specs is the Sanyo 2700. GP is generally a good name so I'll be interested in your take on them.
