Hmm and I thought Spain was in Europe

Also, sometimes e-mailing the manufacturer (at the e-mail address listed on the first page) for a list of
European distributors could work.

One thing that I found useful in searching for Me-163 distributors was to enter on google, besides obviously Me-163, the wingspan which is listed at 1540mm ...

I need a second garage

Landing gear fix!!

Aprox. 4 weeks ago the red Komet hit a bump in my club grass field when
starting takeoff, plane came of the gear rather abruptly, plane on belly with
broken prop, upon further inspection found one of the fwd holes had
some small cracks, I decided on reinforcing the gear mount area.

I plugged the two fwd holes with epoxied wood dowels, the aft hole was
filled with a mixture of epoxy and microballooms filler, I made and alum.
plate out T3/.040 sheet and shaped/bent into U channel shape, I glued
on fuselage with slow setting epoxy after scuffing area and removing all
the paint, to get good bond on bare glass fuselage. I drilled 2 holes into
the alum. plate(fwd/aft), this were enlarged to accept 3/16 brass tubing,
I epoxied the brass tubing sections, I the filled the tubing flat even with the
alum. plate, the dowels and brass tubing extend into and are also glued
to the plywood nutplate mount.

I used two of my original 6/32 sliding bolts into the brass tubing sections,
a lot stronger than the original holes in the fiberglass and gear slides/drops
of easier IMO, the pics will show details.

I will do same on green komet.

BTW 65 flights on green Komet in two seasons, maybe time for new battery this winter, red K has only 11 flights. I will try to get video on red at next fly-in.

Later, Allen (ZRX212)

Nice Allen !

So is this a gravity drop, or do you use an internal servo to drop the dolly?

It's still gravity drop like before, just a stronger setup, I'm working on ideas
for servo controlled drop, WKYP.

Hi Mr. Herb
Me-163 is very cool, how fast did it fly?

also saw you where using turnigy sk3 3659-1900kv with midi fan on your cmp t-45. I was wondering if you had opinion on that fan motor vs the hobby king lander dps 90mm unit. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=17223
Since i'm not edf dynamic balance expert, the latter seemed like a reasonable prebalanced option.

Btw w/ fixed gear no flap servos and 4000mah 6cell nano's my cmp t-45total weight is still around 6.75lbs!

thanks a lot
Henry

Hi,

I think my Me-163 will go 120mph, maybe more ... I am worried about the wings flying off or cracking though, so I power off in a dive

Re the T-45 fans the SK3-Wemo combination is very light and efficient, that is why I picked it. Some of the HK fans are heavy as lead , very bad for an edf jet where you have to very careful about any added weight (unless you do internet flying). There are other options of course, but keep an eye on the weight. Balancing a fan (like the CS-5bl) is not difficult with eg. the HK magnetic balancer.

Wow, that's fast. i guess having the propeller outside really helps.

Was this the 5 blade fan you where refering too? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=11261

this was the wemo fan i thought you liked. http://www.espritmodel.com/edf-wemot...i-pro-fan.aspx

I agree light and fast
thanks

The Technik Museum in Berlin only has an originel Me-163 Walther engine, but it does have a complete He-162 Salamander.

This appears to be a new addition to the museum. One can clearly see that part of the constuction (eg wings) are made out of wood.
