I will be making a box from Corregated plastic (correx/coreflute blah blah) As I have also previously found out how heavy you can make a box even trying to make it light. Joe W uses a ~10mm flute plastic for his model box. Seems to be solid and nice and light.

I want to only take the one box, but may be difficult with a 7kg K100, ~3kg of D60, and who knows how much extra I will have.

Yes, I'm seriously thinking of making a coreflute box. 11kg is too heavy. It was a big rush making it in time last year but I have more time this year. I wonder what glue is good for bonding coreflute?

Lots of ways to make them. Some can unfold and lay flat to save space. Google it. Just make sure you do a build thread.

Excellent Alex. I googled it and have found a few instructions/ plans/ threads. I'm gonna start chasing some down. Not sure whether to go 5mm or 8mm. The 8mm samples I have are very very solid ... overkill and I calculated the box would weigh 6.3kg in coreflute alone. So I think it will be 5mm (I don't think there's anything in between). Sounds like rivets are good to pin it together. Lots of ways, as Stu says. Roger and Joel last yr used 3mm, stuck with 3M77 onto blue foam sheet.

Cool, his box did seem a little heavy. I will do some research into what thickness I will use.i will use wooden edging on the inside. let me know how you get on ans I will do the same.

On another note, found my phone isn't locked to my network, so will just get a sim card for it when I get over there.

Is looking like I will now leave here on the 5th of April and leave LA on the 21st. What are your travelling dates Andrew?

Plane Assembly or Repair

If any one needs their planes worked on, i have a new mechanic. He hasnt done any assemblies, but he is open if the price is right. His rates are reasonable. Usually a piece of a sandwich goes a long way with him.
His name? Jack.

Hey are you trying to out-dog me with your photo John!!?? Haha! Poor old Jade can't compete with cute young Jack!

Looking forward to meeting him at your place!

Boxes ... I went to a local sign shop and checked out the 8mm and 5mm. 8mm is very very very strong, and would be lighter, but not light enough to tempt me. The box would come out around 8kg. So I'm getting some 5mm, which for me seems a bit light. But I can reinforce it here and there if needed. Something in between the 2 thicknesses would be perfect. I read that riveting the overlaps works well.
