Weird colors may be due to the cmos cable being badly seated.

That was my first inkling, but on two cameras which have reportedly normal colors in web cam mode (with signal from the same imagers) seems to rule out a bad ribbon cable connection. Maybe something strange going on it the DSP chips? The web cam video is MJPEG compression, not the normal h.264 encoding in the normal video. Or was the same flash memory card used in both cameras... maybe a card issue? But first I'd be interested in the camera color settings and firmware being used (I'd flash in v0.58 firmware and re-test.

This happened to me a couple of days ago with one of my #16 cameras that had been recently loaded with mov v0.58 firmware.. I had only been recording for about a minute and I couldn't get it out of record mode. The shutter button did nothing. I had to use the power button to shut it down.

I 'cured' it by turning it on and then using a toothpick to press the reset button on the side. After that I reloaded the camera configuration using the Nr16SEtup utility. It has never happened since then.

I did some more testing. took a couple pics with both cams and the colors were fine. tried a video of the same thing (rolls of colored vinyl for my sign biz ) and the video was the same off colors as before. When I uploaded the video to youtube it played correctly. looks like its a problem with my video players. I use quicktime 7.7.3 and media player classic on a windows XP machine. I'll try on another pc. thanks for the info.

Maybe a missing codec on your computer. Also try VLC player, it plays almost anything.

I expect them all to fit the plug. The picture in the first link looks as if it almost matches the right-angled #16 socket. The mounting tags at the edges look a bit strange though. The original plug doesn't have these. Rubis posted a picture of how the plug should look here. The other sockets are vertically mounted, so I don't know if there is enough clearance at the top to insert the plug and cable when the top casing shell is screwed into position.

I measured my socket as 4.25mm wide, 4.62mm high and 3.4mm narrow.
Maybe the measurements published are only approx. or the plastic is thicker in one plug than in the other. It is not easy to take an exact measurement, as I found out.

I've ordered a set that I think will fit, I'll update you on here if they do!

Here are there are the settings. Now it's starting to let the yellow light off even in the case of short recordings.
Reset button seems to do nothing: am I supposed to let the sd card in while I press it or do I have to pull it off?

Ziggy,

I'd go back to firmware V.049. I tried upgrading to V0.58 'beta' and was getting a similar "Camera was blinking orange many times when trying to start..

It scared the heck outa me, as I thought I might have bricked a camera by screwing up the v0.58 install.
However once I went back to V0.49 all was fine. So I'll leave the cams like that until V0.58 is out of the beta stage or the next version is released.

A fast blinking yellow LED means the camera is updating the firmware. Sometimes the blinking stops almost immediately, sometimes it continues to blink, and sometimes it becomes solid yellow.
Whatever the case, if you ever see a fast blinking yellow LED, then WAIT 10 seconds, even if all the LEDs turn off.

If, after 10-15 seconds the camera is off, i.e. no LEDs are lit, then do the following:
1. Remove the card.
2. Turn on the camera and wait for the yellow LED to blink slowly.
3. Insert the card and wait about 2 seconds until the yellow LED turns on.
4. Connect the camera to the PC.
5. Delete the firmware file, format the card , or start Nr16Setup. Nr16Setup will automatically delete the firmware file as soon as you select the drive, so this is the easiest method.
