DIY Diverity Controller without RSSI
Hi,
i'm currently working on a diversity controller that compares two video signals based on video quality. In fact its almost the same as the one with diversity für 15$, but no need for RSSI, so its comparable to Oracle Diversity. The main features are the followings: 2 bright red LEDs that show whichreceiver is selected 1 bright orange LED for power 2 video inputs, 2 stereo audio inputs (audio will be switched with better video source but will not be checked) video switching based on lost frames in video signal (LM1881 video sync seperator is used) In the attachements you can see the prototyping board. the prototype has no audio switching yet, but the layout is done, so i just have to add it to the next prototype. Heres a short video of switching in action:
As you can see in the last few seconds there is no interference when switching between the 2 receivers (you can see the red LEDs blinking, that means they are switching). So far i have not implemented the video comparison, because i need to learn a bit more about video, but it should be possible to support both NTSC and PAL. If anyone has interest in helping me with the code i would be happy to hear from you. The layout and code will be open source i think, but i will order some industrial produced PCBs later if there are enough interested. |

Very nice! No hacking either! What are you using for the video switch? Also, what are you using for a detector?

We are using the LM1881 for the detection and a ADG794 as videoswitch + FMS6141 to improve the videoquality

Yeah we have working code. Seeers just ordered some PCBs to test the new design and code. So we will post some news here soon. If you wan to follow the german discussion you can try to translate it with google translator. Its here: http://fpv-community.de/showthread.php?5699
