Validol - Photos

I took a few quick photo's of one of Oleg's new Validol's. Wing is carbon, seems very stout! I'll weigh all the items and add to this post later tonight.

I picked an unusual color scheme, but I think it's pretty cool.

And just for fun, you can see I have a problem with toys. A shot of my 'man cave'.

Nice shop, love the guitars!

I'll add photos when I can, here are some weights from my Validol off the top of my head:

1) Kevlar wing-138g
2) Fuselage+bolts-42g
3) Complete tail set-16g

I just weighed mine out:

Carbon Wing: 149.6g
Fuse+bolts+hatch: 40.7g
stab mount: 0.8g
Vstab: 8.4g
Hstab: 7.4g

I'm going to use DS09 in the wing (hopefully I can get an enclosed top-drive to work)

and a DS188 and 285 in the fuse. I'm thinking pull string/spring for both.

I'm SOOO not looking forward to cutting into this wing. It appears to be made from kryptonite-coated-unobtanium where I will be operating.

What sections are used in the wing?

Sean

Wait... isn't Validol a methyl pentanoate? Antidepressant?

Nice plane, heard mention of it in the Archdale thread and it looks killer. Is that his own design?

BTW Scrib: you need a Flying V on the wall between the acoustic and the DLG. You know, to make the smooth transition from guitar to plane.

Just sayin .....

I got it covered! I'll just move this one from the house to the cave.

I took a crappy looking shot here... should have done it over.

Jason, thanks for starting the thread. It only took you a couple hours from getting the model in your hands to posting pics

I suppose I should have started a new thread myself, and I may do it later when the "proper" models arrive. This first batch was made in prototype MDF molds as a proof of concept. Aluminum molds are being made right now for full production. The model was well received by the few test pilots in Russia. I test flew it one day before the Archdale contest and liked it enough to use in the contest. Unfortunately, damaged it too soon and finished the contest with another model.

This is my own design. Airfoils are a refinement of the Taboo GT foils. The tail areas are very generous, especially the vertical tail, to aid in launch performance and handling.

The name is from a popular/classic medication used in Russia.
Here is more data for you to make fun of while you are waiting for the next batch of Validols

Quote:
Validol

Active ingredient
Methyl valerate 60 mg per tablet Carbon, styrofoam, fiberglass

Action
Sedative agitating, excitative, can be upsetting for other competitors,
and vascular dilative action

Indications
Validol produces a sedative effect (on other competitors),
and has a moderate reflex and vascular
dilative action caused by the stimulation of sensitive nerve endings. At
sublingual administration the effect is produced in five minutes and 70 % of
the preparation is released in 3 minutes. Use in cases of heart disease
(cardialgia), angina, motion sick-ness, nausea, vomiting when seasick or
airsick, hysteria, nervousness and headaches from taking nitrates. Do not
use in cases of hypersensitivity.

Contraindications
In rare cases hypersensitivity to the Methyl valerate.

Pregnancy or lactation
Not contraindicated

In machinery operation
Not contraindicated

Recommended dosage
Place tablet under the tongue and let dissolve completely. Take 1 tablet 2 to
3 times daily. The frequency and duration of treatment depends upon
effectiveness of the remedy. When no relief appears 5 to 10 minutes after
first dosage, repeat treatment. In children under 6 years of age: 1/2 of the
adult dosage.

Overdose
No data for overdosing.

Side effects
In prolonged use may cause light nausea, dizziness, and tearing of the eyes
which fade away with discontinuation. Possible manifestation of
hypersensitivity.

Storage
Store under 25ºC in a dry place far from reach of children.

And this is my medicine for the next season's treatment.

Kevlar wing -138,2g
Fuselage - 48,4g
Vertical tail -7,0g
Stab - 7,0g

It seems there is no chance for DS285 to take place inside the fuse. Maybe DS188. But optimized for D47 or 5035.

As for a wing, it is thick enough for even 11mm servo.

Yes, that's a late 80's Pedulla Buzz fretless bass. Good eye!

I will do a build-log. Although most of the building part should be much like an Akcent2 but with different POD configuration.

Oleg, do you have suggestions for starting CG location?

Also, can you confirm the location of the wire routing channels in the wing:

45mm from leading edge, extending slightly forward out to 65mm from center?

Thanks!

Jason
