How much tension when stretched to the midpoint of the launcher? I'm guessing you're
only getting 40kg in the last few cm of stretch and it's dropping almost instantly as soon as the plane moves. ian |

ImageCatcher - its not just about tension but duration of pull and how fast the level of pull declines.
My launcher pulls the same as Coyotes - about 12kg - but it pulls for over 4 seconds. From launch it will climb to about 30 metres - high enough to do a full lap of the field and land back at my feet without ever touching the throttle ie just the bungee. My guess is that your launcher (as Coyote said) is an animal at launch but within a few inches has 'shot its bolt'.

Not bad mate, they really are good for covering range with 2x large lipo`s on board, I wanted to fly mine with 4x but it just seems way to heavy for it, and the extra weight I think will kill the cruise current draw but I`m yet to try it.
I suppose I should post a video up as I don`t think I have apart from the spin video
Stupid JapanDVR that is supposed to be great froze and didn`t record the FPV cameras transmission. Luckily I was broadcasting live over Justintv.com to the UK forum lads so managed to download the live uploaded video from there to add to the Gopro footage. 10km done, but after landing as I thought previously Hornet OSD current sensor is miles out, over 30% in this case so could have gone a lot further. Now I have swapped Hornet / FY31AP out for RVOSD Gen 5. Also now swapped out the motor for a Turnigy SK 840KV motor on a 12x8 prop so should now be able to push it knowing the current usage will be accurate and have a faster but more efficient cruise. |

thnx,
but yours is great! what gear do you use? I have 2x 5000 4S onboard, turnigy 830KV motor, aeronaut folding 13x6.5 prop rangelink 433 LRS racewood vid RX readymadeRC 1500mw 1.3GHz TX Ibcrazy skew planar on model and crosshair 10db at my side. (both from readymaderc) on second flight I've put on 500mw racewood tx to compare, vid was clear as 1500mw, same distance, so I guess there is some more range left to try

For that flight I had
WDR650 Camera Gopro ImmersionRC 2.4ghz 500mw Home made cloverleaf ( to clear carbon of prop ) Chainlink UHF 2x 5000 4S Nano-Techs Hornet OSD + FY31AP Telefly OSD ( for antenna tracking ) 12v PSU Circular-Wireless 12dbi helical Scorpion 2030 1110kv V2 with a 10x6 |

1500mW is overkill.
I can reach out 4.5km easily using CP omnis (CL + SWP) on only 600mW (FOX800).. Been well past 10km with a Crosshair on the Rx and could go much further. ian |
