How much weight is needed to achieve the correct CG will be dependent upon what else you've got installed on the plane and how heavy the batteries are that you use. If you have the "correct" CG, you shouldn't need to add anything more anywhere. My X8 balances out using 2 X 3300 mah, 3s batteries mounted in the nose and I have no other extra gear onboard.
Glue sandpaper in the finger holes so you can grip the plane better and more safely. Push it firmly off but as straight and almost level as you can under full power. Trying to toss this thing like an unpowered glider is instant failure.

Thanks for the answers, i use a 4 cells 3000mha and the cg it seem correct but when i lunched it went up and stall, never i had such experience only when a plane wasn't correct, i'll try again later so maybe i put some weight just to be certain , but if it need speed to be launched it means that it is not a good flyer, because it should fly with no motor on to make good video on the sky.....

I am in Calgary. That was probably my X8 you saw. I fly with Calgary Park Flyers at the Grey Eagle Casino. I'm there usually on weekend mornings so long as the wind isn't too high but of all my planes, the X8 seems to handle the wind the best.

For the X8, this is not true. "Launching" and "flying" are 2 different things. The X8 is great flyer. It just needs to be launched a special way. It has to get up airspeed quickly or it will stall. It's a big, heavy plane but it glides very well with no power. I generally will take it up quite high and then let it glide back down. When conditions are right, these excursions can take up to 10 minutes and I can do 2 such up and down trips in one flight.

The end of the side finger holes is the "recommended" CG. Daemon flies his with the balance point 15 to 20mm aft of this. I fly mine about 5 to 15mm in front of this. The front of the finger holes might make it too much on the nose heavy side. It will probably fly but may reduce your glide ability to some extent.

yup that was you... I had a membership there but never flew there... two small kids and work get in the way...

send me a PM and we can talk on skype, we are flying tonight east of calgary (well in the industrial area of east calgary, lots of room for the x8) if you are around come on down.

Steve

No, I only flew it at that CG when I lost my GoPro in the air.
Normally I fly with the CG right at the rear end of the front finger holes, give
or take a few mm.

What is your flying weight Ian. My model just doesn't stall and spin which is a good thing I suppose. It just drops the nose.

BTW. I have dialed in more elevator than aileron for manual control.
