Mini-HowTo
Upgrading E-Sky Belt CP V2 to Belt CPX - part 2

Finally, the parts I ordered last week showed up.

I started with taking the frame apart, this was pretty easy. Previously I had glued the bearings to the main shaft, so that was a bit of a PITA, but nothing a little flame won't fix.

One major problem preventing me from flying right now: E-Sky redesigned the canopy mounts so they hold the swash anti-rotation bracket in place. I will also need to drill/poke new holes in the old canopy, since I'm cheap and I like the look of the old canopy better. Good thing it's winter.

The part I forgot to order: Part No: 002802 - Esky Canopy Shoring

I have done a test hover with the new setup, in my (very subjective) opinion it flies much better. Cyclic response shows the most improvement, while collective is only marginally better.

would it be possible to use T-rex 450 head/components and main shaft?
for example, could a person use the hobbyking 450 head assembly?

Belt CP/CPX and King3/4 use a main shaft of the same diameter as a 450. You could use a 450 head, but the swashplate needs a front mounted elevator servo, so you either need to move the anti-rotation bracket forward or use the E-Sky swash. E-Sky swash has smaller ball links than a 450 clone, so you would need to either adapt the E-Sky flybar mixer, or find another swashplate. Maybe the blade 450 can be the donor of that part.

Either way, Belt CPv2 is not a good candidate for a money pit, if you don't own one yet, get a clone.

I don't know if the jesus bolt is at the same height on a 450 and the E-Sky head, but that can be fixed with a little grinding.

thanks for info

I am actually trying to sell my Esky Belt CPX

BUT

if it doesnt sell, I was pondering doing a flybarless conversion using the hk 450 flybarless head and new flybarless unit they just released.

BUT

not sure if it'd work or not.

That's the orange one? I would keep it, mine flies at least good enough to have as a back up when all others are grounded. I don't think I could sell mine for half as much as I have invested in it, so I'll just keep it.

It's a nice one too, with metal upgrades. I wish I had some extra funds right now, just spent $300 on EXI 450. I will post a build when everything arrives, it's going to be a beast.

I hope yours finds a nice home, looks like a nice heli.
