Adverse's Proposed Quad Build -AU - QLD

Hi All

i feel like a total noob to what is out there now

the last time i played with RC was 30 odd years ago and it all was so basic and i dont think i ever saw an electric RC plane back then

i have spent the last 3 weeks struggling through the multi copter forum section

(i am dislexic and have an extreme trouble reading and writing all i can say is than god for spell checker or you wouldnt be able to read what i type)

i am losing mobility slowly but surly (back and right leg failing) so carnt do much of what i love to do (build things like cars and trikes from scratch for road use)

so i have decided to get back in to the RC game

OMFG is all i can say LOL

there is more technology in a single servo now then there was in a full high end 5 ch TX/RX plane from when i did it last

if you had a motor bigger than a 0.25cc motor on your plane you had sold your house to buy it

my first plane was a plastic Delta with a 0.25cc and 3 ch controller and it cost me over $ 400 back then (30 years ago that was about 6 weeks pay for me) and it was that brittle that i cracked it when i bumped it on my car putting it in the boot on the 4th or 5th time i took it out to fly

but enough about me on to my build

i want to build a Quad (and other types at a later date)

because if my reading skills i am having trouble understanding a lot of it

i want to build a long duration flight quad and be able to go up to 1K away if i can

FRAME

i will be building my own frame about 1/2 Mt across (bit under 2 feet)

FPV

this will come once i have destroyed the copter several times or i get good at flying
But am looking at something like fly higher&see farther ALL-IN-ONE video goggles about $470 for the full kit

CONTROLLER

i would love a OP CC Pro (or what ever the new one will be called) when they come out

will have to look at other options if i carnt get one by the time i need it

MORE TO COME

how am i doing so far?

any help and or changes i should do i would be grateful for the help

as for the TX/RX unit i am totally lost

i am the type of person that dose not like to do thing "cheep and nasty"
for instance i needed something turned up on a lath could have bought a $300 cheepy but went out and bought a 2nd hand mid range commercial lath to do the job same with a band saw i could have got away with a $200 hobby unit but got a 2nd hand 9 foot tall commercial unit the same thing will ALL my 2 car garage full of tools

dont get me wrong i am not rich (infact i am now on a disability pension) but i wont buy something that will only work a few time and have to replace it i would rather save up 2 times the money and buy a good commercial unit

Hi !
I would say - don't be cheep with Radio TX/RX
All other parts I will go by statistics - it mean more peoples use it better.
For egz.
DT-750 motors
Plush or SS ESC
....
Good luck

Thanks AusTelemetry my head is just swimming with all the new stuff out there LOL

i am even going to the extent of looking for a smallish cnc router so i can draw and cut my own frames and maybe even for others down under so we all can have custom units ;-)

if someone wants to come over and give me a hand there could even be some free drinks in it for them ;-)

the motors look very nice so nice i bought a set when they 1st came out i run 3s lipos and to me the nx4008 620kv motor for $31 wasnt as good as a dt700 with same prop and 3s lipo

this may be very different on 4s but for the price?? well i have 4 620kv motors and 14 700kv motors

clicking on my name might offer some helpful reading from another dyslexic

Did you look for the Australian warehouse stuff? Click "Australia" under the sort option when you are browsing by category. This will help with freight as will not buying lipos overseas as the postage is really cruel.

There are some Aussie based multicopter retailers as well. Do a google search for quad copter Australia and see what pops up.
