Bottom wing is covered and trimmed and the stab/elvator is hinged and covered waiting for trim.

Still kicking,I got the fin/rudder covered and hinged before work this morning and will start the trim in the am.The big worry at this point is we are due for a lot of rain in the next few weeks and it may be tough to find a dry field for the flight shots.

Hi Rab, don't worry about flight shots, as long as the model is finished by 30th April and a photo posted on this thread that's OK, I deliberately specified at the start of the FROG build off that finished would qualify as I know you can often wait weeks at this time of year for a suitable weather window. I am "lifting" photos of all the finished models from their build threads to put on the poll - I've got this all sorted but am still having trouble withe the actual poll which doesn't seem to work as advertised, at least not on the test I have tried on the Test forum, but I will have got it by the end of the month, I'm sure.

Come on Rab, I'm sure that I'm not alone in the desperate wait for photo's of the finished article. I'm sure that it is going to look great.

Got the stab trimmed this morning, one more lock in should finish the covering.I've tried to cover the cowl 3 times and just don't like the looks of it,too many compound curves to get it to lay on right.Looks like the cowl will need to be sealed and painted but all the hobby shops around have no clear dope in stock to mix with baby powder for sealer. They don't have sanding sealer either.Dose any body know if water base poly and auto primer will work?

Hi Rab. The cowlings on two of my FROG models which were finished in water based varnish were painted (for the same reasons as you), the Tom Tit was brush painted with acrylic and is fine, but the Zephyr was sprayed with a rattle can sold not in an auto shop but in the local DIY outlet and labelled for "decorative interior and exterior use". I have translated everything else on the can and there is no reference to cellulose, but it is fast drying (10 mins to touch dry) and it definitely smells like cellulose. As you can see the Zephyr cowling is perfectly OK, so based on this I would guess that auto paint will work OK over water based polyurethane varnish. My fingers are crossed for you!

I think thay many of the general spray coatings that are not enamel, are acrylic based. I don't know what implications that has but I have used acrylics over other non cellulose coatings without problem, provided the undercoat is properly dry / cured beforehand.

Frogin' luvverly!
(sorry, couldn't resist )

Going to be a beauty in the air, and a stand-out in the pits.

Any ideas on putting the plan out there?
