Lookin' good..............

Pecan, that looks super, nice stickers. It looks clean n' mean. I like the checkerboard trim.

Don't hold your breath but I'm thinkin' today's "Maiden" day for mine. Weather's finally starting to get a little nicer, that is until the stormy season gets here.

Here's a pic of mine at our club's mall show last weekend. I got some nice comments about it. The Corsair is also mine, ready for it's "Maiden" coming soon hopefully.

It Flies !!!!

Well, I finally got the maiden flight on the wing, it went very nicely, no " baddies", just a little trimming and it flew perfectly.
Again, thanks to Pecan and the entire group that gave input for this project, I appreciate the help.
I'm planning on building another one, it'll be loaded with lights, I'm sure I'll have a few questions as to where to buy what for the best why????
I have a red, white and blue trim scheme that I think will be pretty neat, patriotic is good.
I was havin' so much fun I forgot to take any pics, my BAD, sorry.

I built a ground launch pad for it, I'll take some pics of it and the wing in launch soon, that is unless I'm havin' too much fun and forget the pics.

This tip is from ElectRich's brother..........
Use a Dental floss thing for control horns.
These green ones were way stronger than the white ones.
I think the picture is all ya need...... use plenty of hot glue to increase its footprint.

I'm repairing some mid air collision damage...... the leading edge was smashed on this one.....first cut the damage away and straighten it up....

Then just go to your fan fold stack and get a piece like this ,,,, trim to fit and hot glue in, and tape over it.....

Question

I have the spars in and when I fold the top of the wings over them I get a 1/4 in gap in the center top where the two halfs meet.

Should I have this gap or is there something I'm missing

Thanks for your help

This happens Eugene... If you force it together it will make the wing twist... not good.
Take your fingers and press the bottom sheeting kind of hard in front of the spar (on the inside)so that it starts to naturally curve up into the airfoil. Bend both the top and bottom sheets over the spar till you see it actually leave a mark,,,,

When you glue it down try to keep twisting of the wing to a minimum, and dont worry so much if the trailing edges come together perfect or the center pieces come together perfect. The center can be plugged with a strip of foam..... the trailing edge can be cut with a knife and straight edge to get it pretty.

If the wing has minimal twist it will fly awesome....
if it has about equal amounts of twist that cancel each other out it will be fine too. I hope this helped. Feel free to ask more questions

Hey,
even in the last picture posted^
make it bigger and see the patch I installed..... see how it's pre-curved to match the wing..... this is what you want to try and achieve on the whole wing forward of the leading edge (both sides)

Another paintball wing born into the world today. Recycled the guts from a hit and run roadkill victim that looked like a giant pink taco after the Patch Cart left its mark.. I think I'll name her "Don't Tread On Me"

My first "scale" rc plane is done. In honor of Jimi Hendrix- I present the Little Wing. Tie Dye paint job coming soon. Running a Suppo 2208 1400 kv motor with 8/4 prop. Should be as fast as the foam will allow on 3s but for weight purposes it will probably a better flyer on 2s. The test glide in the back yard was smooth. I think i have the quirks this plane figured out after building 7 of them

Standard size wing on top for comparison, 3/4 scale on bottom. Metric measurements are the only way to go when adjusting scale- so much easier than inches.
