AC adapter for Hobbico mkii quick field charger

The manual for my Hobbico mkii quick field charger says it needs at least 3 amps at 12v to run. I am curious if I could use a simple 12v power adapter like this

http://www.amazon.com/Kinamax-AD-LCD...3136449&sr=8-2

Says it is rated at 12v 5 amps.

I am only charging small 6-9v 740mah nicd nimh batteries.

Thanks for any feedback

Brian

The volts and amps work just fine.

I don't know if you need an adapter to connect it to the charger.
