Almost done. Waiting for the Welder to cure.

I did a few things differently on my second. I reinforced the landing gear slot with epoxy. this was the first thing to break on the first one (after I smacked it into the ground of course). other thing was that I used welders for the tail hinges. the slots were just a little too wide for thin ca, but the welders filled them nicely and they seem very strong.

not a bad idea, welders is awesome, i guess the only disadvantage is welders weighs more then c.a. glue....

Welders is also known to eat depron, which is sandwiched in the tail feathers. From everything I've read, I would not use it for the hinges.

Hey guys, very excited, my build is complete and just fine tuning. Some pain points were installing the control horns into the pre-cut slots, motor mount screws - it was easier to hold the motor so the bracket was inside the compartment but close to the opening then insert the screws then press the motor against the firewall, line up the holes and screw in. Also I used long throw arms on my servo and it took awhile to get things so I had no servo stress at any position. All and all not a bad build.

Question: I have a dx6i, what are you all using for radio settings on dual rates. Can we get a discussion on what some of you are using?

Just went over this in the last 2 pages And yes, regular CA and Welders will eat the inner foam on this plane. However, I built mine as-per the manual with CA on the hinges and it hasn't caused me any problems. Just don't use a ton of thin CA anywhere, or if you must, use foam safe.

Well, when I built mine 3DHS didn't have a manual yet. I went by what all the Skywing guys said... which was mainly not to use Welders or thin CA on the hinges... The general consensus is those glues work, but overall the hinges won't be as durable.

i am pretty sure any thin CA is already foam safe, so they dont make it say foam safe although any thin Ca is foam safe.

i may be wrong tho...

Yup, you are wrong.

well... i was told wrong because i heard that from some one else

yeah, the fumes from thin ca are wicked, I have just never seen thin foam safe, its always medium or thick, or is just not popular
