it's probably a lot better... it has accelerometer, baro/magneto. and i'm pretty sure they are MEMS gyros not piezo. on top of that it has the multiwii codebase.

correct me if i'm wrong

No mag so far. And no baro. Possibly available later, some pics of that addon board posted earlier.
Gyros are MEMS (MPU3050). And original FF software isn't multiwii based. Probably rip-off from this one: http://sourceforge.net/p/opensourcepilot/home/Home/

M,
Here are some videos that Chris aka C Mod Team posted earlier:

Evil Fly Diablo FF inside.m4v (5 min 58 sec)

and
Evil©Fly DIABLO Free Flight TEST 2 VERTICAL TOSS.m4v (0 min 50 sec)

So as you can see it can work unmodified with the on-board BEC, the occasional I2c power on spike discovered by Happy Sundays, etc..
I zapped my STM and replaced it but the only other mod I did was to get the buzzer off of the FCB. Here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1247

It is a value-priced knock around quad even as it is with a faster better processor, MEMs gyros and an accelerometer for self-leveling, camera gyro stabilization, fairly easy to setup and has firmware upgrade capability.
The current firmware does not make it as agile as the KK or Multiwiicopter code for sport flying. It is set up to be more stable for AVP. If the multiwwii code port magic happens or perhaps other firmware comes along form our unknown Chinese sources, then sport flying will be snappier
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Tom,
Excellent question and I expressed exactly the same at the time. My first thought was that they were not real spikes but some sort of "ground bounce" caused by poor earthing of either my measurement or the PSU.
However the spikes were measured from the LiPo battery ground leading to the board (and close to it) and to multiple points on the FF board. The photo was done showing the 3.3V rail at the SWD interface (programming pads on the edge of the board) but I could see the same at the SDA/SCL pullups.
For whatever reason the spikes did not occur each power up, only one out of every 5 or so.
I've removed the 5V reg from the board now so I can't really investigate further...

Yea. I liked the technology on this one but disliked form factor and color.

Wow, at least you had the decency to make it better lol!
I notice that one you linked to looks like it has a different footprint for the space where the BMP085 is in a FF board.

Oh hey, good catch.
That footprint looks like its for the MS5611 stuff (the $20-ish/ea pressure sensor, yawn)

At least they used SMD caps which probably don't explode during reflow.

Seems like it's not a clone, but just V1.0 of hardware. My board says it's V1.2 now..

Hmm, could be, but why would they switch from SMT caps to through-hole junk for production version, it doesnt make sense. And it's not called freeflight in the green version,, so I'm guessing maybe better call it 1.0 version of clone

Anyhow looks like some of my revised clone pcbs are starting to arrive and I got all the other parts in so maybe I'll make a few this week.
