About analog vs digital sensors

Hello timecop,

I'm curious about your comment regarding digital interface sensors being not as good as analog sensors sampled at high rates... Is that because of the latency created by the digital filtering and interface or because the digital approach precludes oversampling of the analog sensor...

Thanks!

Jon.

It's digital gyros /acc on I2C... so code could be adjusted to make PIOS run but... It probably won't be as good as analog sensors sampled at high rate...
Plus there's no USB so the telemetry/configuration stuff would have to be done over serial.

it should still be there maybe problems with I2C?
So to all cases save the old firmware, if possible!

Ok, cool. Crossworks and JLink-Edu it is. I like things that just work without too much screwing about. I only asked because I like to stick to things I already have set up. Hopefully the STM32 will keep us all amused for some time

Missed this. Interface, like I2C being slow.
You can filter on gyro/acc and only grab updates at 100hz or you can refresh at xxkHz and filter in code. At least with analog or SPI digital you have a capability to do either way. With I2C you're kind of screwed.
