I think it's an improved V911

Can anyone (the guys who are in communication with WL-Toys) confirm for sure if this is an "new version from WL-Toys", or a clone of WL-Toys.

When the Firecabbage dude convinced me to try the yellow one out, he didn't mention that the parts were not interchangeable...
Now I see he lists "New V911" parts. Are these WL-Toys, or a clone?

Either way, I'm not happy that the parts will not be interchangeable with my existing fleet of four real V911.
Rickster - I DON'T think you have much to be concerned about. The rotor assembly (all parts from the flybar to the motor) seem to be the same.
Not sure about the improved non-spindly landing gear, but its more robust and I'm happy with THAT. The battery connection and main motor connection are now socketed. There's a shutdown protection when the tail rotor gets stuck.
Obviously a different motherboard (but may be swappable)
Weirdly - in some crashes it ejects the battery, but that's probably not intentional.
I'll leave it up to others to do a more critical comparison - but for me - to quote a cereal killer - THEY'RE GREAT!!!

Oh - and the old canopy fits on the "new V911" - so it doesn't HAVE to be Yellow. But - you might like that Coldplay song anyway....

V911 canopy weighs less too.

better than V911??

Mr.Brosol posted a link to Benma in the Beetle/quadcopter thread ... and me after clicking it, I started browsing around there a bit, and here is what I found ... (no idea if there is already a specific thread for it, but mażbe its still kinda unknown)

... and judging by the pictures that could be a HECK of an interesting addition to the micro FP market ...

What you guys think ??

Left one is from HobbyKing RTF ordered on May 29.
Right one came from BangGood yesterday.

Obvious differences - landing gear on yellow one is larger. Canopy is sturdier.

Canopies off - "Copter" says WL on it same as every other one.
Yellow one has plugs and also the same date code as previously posted.

Sorry for crap iPhone pics = bad lighting and I am in a hurry.

Have not flown Yellow one yet, so Flight Characteristics are unknown at this time.

Plugs are a good step forward. Sorry if I've been asleep at the switch here, but what's the story on TX compatibility? FlySky still good?

Update on main shaft ring removal

Just thought about this - before lift off, applying alierons and elevators will cause the main shaft to move up or down. Other than the main shaft + main gear, the swashplate and the entire main rotor assembly also moves up and down.

When the either/both of the servo arms moves down, the biggest problem is the main gear may not mesh with the motor gear and head speed will drop to 0. This can be quite a disaster but it had not occurred during my flights. (Thanks RicksterRC for the reminder)

But a smaller problem is when the entire main shaft moves down, the tilt of the swashplate is reduced. This has the same effect as reducing the servo throw for forward and aileron left. Servo throw for backward and aileron right are not affected as the the servo arms pushes the main shaft up, which pushes the main gear up gets blocked by the body.

FYI.

Will the new yellow one bind with the v911 stock TX?

YUP! Definitely! I cannot tell any difference in the way the new yellow flies.

BTW - The 'new' V911 flies VERY well with the older light canopy and a light, 120 mAh battery (but I did wear out one of my old 120's today...)

Well, took the tail motor from an old 9958 that wasn't flying too well (too much TBE) and spliced onto the v911..Works, doesn't look to pretty, but will do the trick! And it flys well!

If it binds with the stock v911 I am going to order one now...for $19.99 it's worth it....
