Xieda 9958 Tail Motor

Anyone know if I can use the 9958 tail motor to replace the v911 stock tail motor?

There's a few solder points to un-do to get it totally apart but it seems to have been worth it.

I pulled all kinda silicone glue hair sized strings out of it (maybe causing a bad or short connection?)...blew it out really well with canned air...and found about 2.5-3inches more antenna wire stuffed down in there.

SOO...I modded the stubby antenna with a small hole in the side and a bit of antenna tubing to run the 'surplus' antenna wire through just to get max signal, at a 90 degree angle of course. And yep, The antenna wire does extend all the way to the end of that tube.

And so far after 4 batteries not ONE FREAKIN GLITCH. My guess is it was either the silicone threads or dust that blew out but man this stock V911 is a blast to fly now. 5 minute battery times and rock solid all the way.
Very nice mod.The antena wire inside is coaxial? How did you fixed ,soldered the wires ?Are there 2 wires .....?Do you have some more detalied pics?

Brosol,

I don't really see the point of the tail rotor shaft.
From what I can see in the picture it's still using a separate motor to spin to tail rotor, just in much more complicated way.
Why not just leave the tail motor at the tail?

I think I can see how it could be cool if the tail rotor was belt or shaft driven off the main/gear motor and had a servo
and push rod to adjust the pitch of the tail rotor.

I'm surely missing something - what is it!!?

B!LL!

By moving the tail motor to main frame, you increase center of gravity, and by not hanging it off the boom, you'll get much faster response both in rudder control as well as fore\aft. You can also move the tail rotor further out for more leverage without as much penalty from the motor itself being out there as well.

Missing the fact that the more complicated the design becomes, the more expensive the heli is and the harder and more expensive it is to fix when it breaks.

I think it was more of a design exercise than anything else.

Does it make it a better or more serviceable flyer? Probably not, just makes it more fragile......but it looks cool!

It goes all over the place, left right, backward, loops...

Any ideas what the problem could be???

thank you very much for your replies!!!

i took my heli outside today to see what was happening...
looks like it needs a lot of room to fly, it did not like my room very much...
it can fly outside, at least i got something to start with...
i was worried that there was something wrong with it.
it needs a lot of practice to get used to it, i will see later on what sort of adjustments is needed...

thanks for your help!!!

The antenna wire was just a single, small red wire soldered on the backside of the board. Sorry, no more pics. Didn't see the need to take any with the Tx open.

In any case it's irrelevant...the Tx has started glitching again so whatever was wrong with it before is back.

I'd keep flying it over a soft surface but the Tx just suddenly beeps with a solid tone and the heli drops to the deck. It's trimmed perfectly so I just don't wanna screw anything up.

I've got 2 more RTF's on the way from Banggood, Now that I've actually gotten pretty comfortable flying this thing around my living room...I get to wait
