boredom is me, is the data in the first couple of posts all the weights people have added to the thread?

i have access to a rather nice tool that will allow me to create a very easy to use tool for collating and interrogating this data. i will use some of the data in the first post to provide an example of what can be done.

This entire thread is a relatively massive group effort.

I do not construction/material weights up yet though.

bugger. the forum code does not allow html or javascript.

link to a visual of the data.

micro weights visual

have a play and let me know your thoughts. it was just a quick draft with some additional data thrown in. i've got this on a spreadsheet which i am using to power the visual tool. i could make the spreadsheet a google doc and then it can be maintained. i could run updates every so often to keep the visual tool up to date.

Paul,

Could you make a kind of shopping cart calculator with that? I thought of doing it with a spreadsheet, but that might be a better way.

E.g., I might want to try to decide whether I want an AR6400 with a single brushed motor or two motors with two Pixie 7A ESCs on different channels (getting a bit exotic), one aileron servo and a bell crank, or two separate aileron servos, and so on. If the thing you have there could add up the total weight, and allow me to change something and see the effect, that would be good.

A box to add things like the bare airframe would be useful, or part of it might be so many square cm (or inches) of a particular material, then a box for a fixed weight for anything known that isn't on the chart.

hi andy,
yes that is possible. i just need the data added to the spreadsheet for the things that are not there. if the sellers of kit were a bit more ecommerce savy i could build it to pull data from each site and tell you where is cheapest to buy.unlikely thats going to happen though.

Hi Paul,

By shopping cart, I just meant for it to add up all the weights for items chosen from the list (and so many of each item), the way a shopping cart adds up the prices of things you put in the cart.

Linking it to actual places to buy the stuff could be a good way of financing it though. I hadn't thought of that.

I posted this elsewhere but it might as well be here too. Weights for common lipos used in ultra micros:

In a spirit of real scientific enquiry I donned my mad professor's wig and pulled out my stock of micro batteries and my new digital jeweller's scales:

All these are 1s and all have the same male plug, even though on some there's an adaptor fitted.

Etomic 70 mAh (as supplied with Vapour) 2.5g
Eflite 120 mAh 14c 3.7g
Parkzone 120 mAh 3.7g
ip 130 mAh 25c 4.1g
Overlander 130 mAh 3.7g
Overlander 150 mAh 26c 4.0g
Hobbyzone 150 mAh 12C 4.7g (as supplied with Champ)
Turnigy nano-tech 160 mAh 25-40c 4.2g (although experience suggests the 25-40C is a "yeah - right" figure)
Miniaviation 130 mAh 25C 3.9g
Miniaviation 160 mAh 25c 4.7g
Miniaviation 190 mAh 25c 5.0 g
Miniaviation 300 mAh 30C 7.9g (which has the same micro plug as those above but on a short extension)
E-Flite 250 mAh 20C 8.3g (as used in Mosquito and Tandem heli)
E-flite 500 mAh 12c 14.g (with red JST plug) 15.2g with adaptor lead (to fit female plug in UM Mosquito)

Now for 2s (which again all have the same plug unless otherwise stated, but it's bigger than the plug on the 1s):

Nano-tech 180 mAh 25c 11.3 g
Miniaviation 210 mAh 25c 14.4g
Nano-tech 370 mAh 26.6g (but note this includes 2mm gold pins on the leads and "standard" balance plug)
Hyperion 420 mAh 25C 31.2g (but note this includes red jst plug on power leads and the correct male plug for the Beast, GeeBee etc soldered on instead of the stock hyperion balance connector)

Some of the batteries may, or may not, have the velcro strip. The velcro strips weigh 0.2g.

Hi!
Would anybody happen to know the weight of the torsion-bars found in the Parkzone UM's
(Aileron Pushrod/Linkage: UM T-28 PKZU1522)?

Thanks :-)

PS the torsion-bars alone, not the bellcrank.

They are .22g each or .44-.45g for the pair.

Wonderful UNGN! You're great!

BTW can't resist asking : What does UNGN stand for?

That was the license Plate on my 1986 White Buick T-type Turbo that runs 11 second 1/4 miles, but is "stock appearing".

GN's are Black, mine was white, so it was the un-GN.

4 more battery weights:

Eflite 120 mAh 20C 2S: 8.99g
Eflite 180 mAh 20C 2S: 12.75g
EFlite 200 mAh 25C 2S: 13.92g
Nanotech 180 mAh 25C 2s: 11.45g
