what he says makes sense:

i just checked 6400L, which has a little bit longer servos: 4.92

and just in case, i checked weights of the original 6400: 3.90

by the way, the brick on the champ weighs the same: 3.90-although it is de-tuned to develop less power, as confirmed by horizon.
i did bench tests on both (detailed figures somewhere in my blog).
Phil, your scale is off.

Depending on the wire length, a Champ/J-3/PKZ3351 brick weighs between 3.60 and 3.75.

The difference between it and the AR6400 and the Champ brick are the 3 plugs soldered to it.

The AR6400L weight listed is correct.

I have a couple nib, one weighs 4.21g, the other 4.23g.

Also, the T has the longer servos of the L, so Horizon should have named it LT.

ok. it is not the scale. i checked again-several times-and got this:
champ brick: 3.90
original 6400 brick: 3.90
longer servos 6400: 4.08
all same wire lenght.
so, i don't know if there are variations of those models. sometimes during manufacturing they just change something and don't tell. but again, these are the weights i got.
the 4.96 i had was with an extra connector that i overlooked when weighing. i already corrected it on the post.

carbon fiber veil

carbon fiber veil: 6.7 gr/sq meter

aka mat, tissue, from cst, about $16
on post 9, Andy asks for use of this: for cowlings or nose cones, i carve the piece from soft foam, cover it with saran wrap, epoxy, then the cf, and saran wrap again, well stretched. when cured, remove the wrap and add microbaloons mixed with epoxy. let cure, sand and cover with shrink covering or paint. remove from the core. look at my stick and tissue models on my blog-somewhere on page 2 or 3.

Some foam weights I just measured:

Selitac 1 mm 80 gm/m^2

Selitac 2 mm 81 gm/m^2

Proformance 1 mm 58 gm/m^2

Now, the 2 Selitac samples were both quite inaccurate in thickness, being 1.67mm and 2.77 mm, respectively. Obviously, the "closeness" in my density calculations is due to differences in the absolute densities of the differing batches they came from. My scale is accurate to 0.01 gm, less than 0.25% of the weights measured. (My Ohaus calibration weights are accurate to 0.04% at 5 gms (ASTM Class 6, e.g., 2 mg/5gm).

I think the hk-5320 is mislabeled as a 5230 in the original post.
