Tom, On my Stinson (Top Flite) with the DLE 30 i had two batteries under the fuel tank shelf. One was a sub-c 6 volt and the other was a 4.8 volt sub-c for ignition. I also put a brick style 6 volt under one of the front seats. Servos were installed per the plan. No extra weight was required. Balance point was right on target. I did use a tru-turn prop hub on the engine also. We still have no snow in northern Maine-should have kept the birds unpickled.

Thanks, Frank.

I know, with the G-38, no weight is needed. That's why I was wondering about the DLE.

I wrongly assumed that weight would be required.

Tom I don't know yet I haven't done the final balance but I used 1/4 scale servos in the forward area and they weigh more than reg. servos and I have alot going on in the cab and my dummy engine is a full scale model. so I made a batt. box mid section of the fuse for 4.8 v sub c batt. and the batt's for the ignition are between the servos for now. I will post what happens when I figure out how to balance this big bird.

I have been reading as much as I can on the Stinson, as it is my next project. Has anybody used the Saito Radial, the 170R3? it quotes 2.5 hp with a weight of 46oz. This is a bit over the specs for this, however I am looking for a plane to use as a tug for a 1/5 scale Minimoa from a Krick kit and a couple of other similar size gliders. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated....

Hi Glider,

Not sure if you are aware, but there is at least one good thread in this forum with lots of info about the TF Stinson, the thread is http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=925665.

Lots of pictures as well, supplied by many guys, of their changes and builds along the way.
