Did you ever get an answer, I made a mess getting elevator and rudder servos out but there is enough foam left to make repairs there.
Would like to change ailerion servos out also.

I could Dremel them out but I choose just to use them. I rarely fly the plane anymore so it's not a concern.

Use a sharp #11 blade to cut around the perimeter of the servo(s) & then use needle-nose pliers & gently pull & wiggle the servo(s) out. If you take yor time it "should" come out without too much trouble or hardly any collateral damage. Works for me anyway...

I don't want to glue the receiver hatch on, just in case I want to get in there in the future so I got a bamboo skewer and cut off about a little more than an inch and glued it into the hatch at center top and pushed it rearward on the fuse to spear into the bulkhead.
To keep the front end secure, I used 2 straight pins with the plastic tips.
Then push in at an angle and then bury them just below flush.
They bite into the foam just behind the cabane.
You can get them back out to remove the hatch by using a needle nose.

Will remake these from light ply and paint yellow.
I will also keep a running total of weight loss and report final weight before batteries.

interesting to see how light it ends up.

my pitts is stock, with pilot, etc. and added stickers, a bunch of gorilla glue on the motor mount & landing gear for reinforcement (not for damage) and with a 4s 1300mah 40c, it floaty floats across the sky in amazement to most everyone. so yours should be amazing. just make sure you use a light weight lipo too.

I ran a razor blade along both sides of the front spar on the top wing (the only one I can figure out how to get out) and removed it by getting a screwdriver under one end.
It is about 3/32 wide and about 1/4 tall.
I had that CF tube in the picture and it is a little shorter, but it does go slightly past the interplane strut mounts so it will be fine.
Another easy significant weight loss !

Yea, who knows, maybe it will fly good on 3s1p 2200 packs that I have.
I haven't bought the 4 cell packs as of yet.
I can't wait to weigh it when all my mods are done.
I think someone here said stock was 1300 grams without the battery ???

Found a couple bargains today at the swap meet.Got the CA hinges I needed for a buck.
I split them in half and installed 29 of them and 1 tiny little Robarts pin style hinge on the bottom of the rudder in the little tab that slides into the end of the fuse.
Bought some real strong magnets and glued them in the hatch area.
Got some lite ply 1/16" to make my interplane strut out of.
Also cut 2 pieces and made that ply sammich on the elevator.
Got a new Hitec HS-81 for $5.00, didn't have arms, but I had a HD one.
Got that installed.
More tomorrow I'm sure !

Got my red Peaks put together today. Epoxied the motor mount, put loc tite on all metal to metal fasteners, did the skewer mod for the rx hatch, cut a small vent between the faux cylinders for cooling and balanced the prop. Spinner is out of balance so I'll get a new one on there soon. Otherwise it went together nicely and I should be able to maiden in the coming week.

Your rear servos must have not been glued as well as mine!
The plastic mounts were glued tight to servos so they came out with the servos.
I need to re-glue them back in before installing my 81's.

I pulled the rudder servo out with not much resistance.
The plastic pieces were still firmly in the fuse.
The elevator servo was another story.
Grabbed the servo case with a pair of channel locks and really had to twist and pull.
One half of the plastic came with the servo and the other remained in the fuse.
I am only replacing the elevator servo for now.
So I will have a spare china servo for the rudder if it fails.
I am not a hard 3-Der so maybe I will get decent service from the rudder servo ?
