I have a Het 700-98-670 here waiting to try, but over the weekend CC sent me back a HV 160 lite instead of the regular one I sent in so now I am out another week. They are good about it though, and said they will send another one out right away.

I just did. Along with an 8mm shafted 90mm fan for some high volt fun.

I have two flavors for this fan, Ill just have to see which is better on 12s. NEU 1521/2.5y 630kv or a Scorpion 4035 560kv. I'll start off with the Scorpion and go from there. Hopefully with the 560kv it will be in the 4kW range on 12s.

Ultamitely I would like to try one of these fans in a Starfire on 16s with one of XPS's new controllers if they work out. That would keep the amp draw down and flight times up with 5000's, and sound nice in the air.

This is the best part

-Suitable motor 530KV-650KV for 12S

Plenty of low cost (not low quality) 5055mm to 5065mm 8mm shaft motors out there that can fit this bill.

There's also a 14s esc that's 90usd from himodel that's worth trying for lower KV big bell motors

Just curious what motors are you talking about? I have a Turnigy SK 5065 that I use on 6s in an Extra that I know would fry real quick on 12s at 4kW.

That's surprising, what's the after run heat on this motor?

I'm thinking around 2100 watts max on it is what's being drawn?

HKs 4030 880kv is 8 turns 5055-ish and people have put 4-6000 watts through them often.

Anyone thinking about cutting one down? I need a 100mm. I might be able to squeeze 110 in my plane, but 120 is much too big.

There's someone doing this to a 90mm for fit in an 80mm shroud, don't know how much it'll work without modding the shroud for increased length

i have 4 and 4.5" Haoye shrouds which would work well. I don;t think cutting down to 4.5" would be a problem, but going down to 4" might be.

Modding shrouds for increased length is not too difficult. You just have to buy two and cut the front off of one and glue it to the other. I did something similar to get a haoye 90mm shroud to fit into a HET Sniper, except I glued the front of a wemo knock-off shroud on so it would fit into the ducting.

did something similar with a haoye, glue the lip of one of the older CS 190 with Welders 2 part.

It's sKrong as all get out, figured if I balanced the fan pretty good it would keep the glue from noticing any stress.

yeah I am more concerned with how much of the rotor can be cut off before it starts to lose effeciency. I have cut down the turbax fan from 5 to 4" and still works great, but I don't think you can do that with too many fans and get away with it.

1900 with an 18x12, the motor is pretty warm to the touch but not scorching hot. I don’t think the real cheap ones are meant for that kind of power or RPM's though. The 4030 motors are meant for Heli's which run at higher RPM's and require more power for the size of the motor. I would say at a minimum you would have to replace the bearings with quality ones. It would be a fun experiment, I think I have seen 5065’s as low as $30.

Yeah, it already has very aggressive blade angles and cutting it down is only going to make it worse. Higher loading for the diameter, if that is the correct term. But hey, for the money its worth a try. You are thinking this for the Blaze? I have not read through your entire thread but I thought it was a 12s 90mm bird. Or is it close to Spark size?
