Nice one Ray. WIll have to print those out - I don't have anything but memories of my Hotpot 54. The guy who got me interested in RC back then lent my an ENYA 19 RC glow engine, which I cowled up like the original's I flew the model for around three years, even though I got onto low winged aerobatics and scale, the Hotpot was still fun. For the latter part, it had an interesting kink in the fuselage.

I crashed it - what a surprised - and broke the longerons aft of the wing. So, sawed off the broken parts, leaving me with the fuselage forward of the wing TE and the bit around the tailfeathers. Made up a new pair of part sides from strip balsa to replace the missing bit and, very carefully, joined all three together. Flew fine, though instead of the curved fuselage longerons in side view, it had this straight line bit in the back end!

In the end, it went to a clubmate. He cut the oil-soaked cowl and firewall off and built a short 'wing' across the nose with a 10 glow on either end, rather like that 70's era Dornier light transport. I moved on before that happened, but by all accounts, it flew just fine as a 'twin'.

Cute bit. Many years later, when I'd settled into writing my electric flight column in Q&EFI (which is always in need of contributions from US based aeromodellers, just in case anyone's reading ) Mr. Milford contacted me for advice as to how to transition to electric power from smelly lumps.

Funny old world at times. Hotpot 54 is a lovely model, too young for this build-off, but would make a delightful electric powered model with that cowled in front end.

Is that Hotpot article and Plan in the Vintage Plans thread? If not, would love to see a .pdf posted.

Hope not Pete as I believe that thread is for pre 1960 designs. Hot Pot was published in 1976.

Hotpot 54 - try Www.myhobbystore.co.uk That's the plans service part of RCM&E etc.

Okay, will shut up after this, until I have photos etc.

Found my ancient copy of the Aeromodeller Chatterbox plan! Intend to build one. Next decision - full size, 150%, or twice life size?

Sorry folks - it will be electrically impelled. May have to learn how to make a dummy Mills. Yes, there will be a thread when I have something to mumble about. Shouldn't take long to build, especially if I go with 'full size'. Be easier to find an electric friendly spinner at full size too...

I meant to build this beautiful glider from Frank Zaic for easily a couple years now. It turns out this build-off was the motivation I needed to get started. I'm in with my Thermic 50x (from 1946) R/C conversion. I'll build from an Aerosente short kit.

You gotta love a glider with a fin like that .

I would like to get in on the 2012 buildoff if I can. Although I'm already finished with the build last week. If not, I will just have to do another.
What do you think? Thanks

Hi mewert

Of course you can join in and enter. Please start a build log showing building, finishing and flying you model. Then link your build log to the contest thread. I will put you in the first page with the rest of the entrants. Good luck.
