new micro "palm sized" heli??? <link>

I don't think anyone has mentioned this guy in the forums here.
http://www.keyence.co.jp/hobby/english/heli.html

there is a video on the japanese version (no english) site

you can buy it here for $450, all inclusive:
http://www.sigmaautomotive.com:8080/...elicopter.html

anyways:
100g
foam canopy & rotors

looks like they use infrared?? due to limited range??

also from the video, looks like vectored thrust for cyclic.

yeah, I thought that was the term for getting cyclic by moving the whole main gear in relation to canopy...

but I pretty much don't know what I am talking about...

I've got one of these helis. It's got one dual-axis gyro and another gyro for the tail (yep, they're all mechanical ). The dual-axis gyro takes place of the flybar in normal R/C models.

Do a search on this forum for "Revolutor" and you can find more information.

It's ok if you just want to hover around. It's very stable. But it requires some tinkering to get it just right.

With new battery technology, it's probably more practical, but when I got mine, the only thing it would carry were 6 120mAh NiCd batteries. So I mostly flew it teathered.

It's interesting as a curiousity, but if you're thinking about using it to learn to fly, I'd recommend something like a Piccolo, HB or Hornet if you're restricting yourself to a micro helicopter.

jeremys,

I have one of these too and I will second most of what jaggies said about them. With Li-Poly batteris you can fly it without the tether but it won't ever be capable of 3D flight.

By the way, if you're thinking of trying one out I'll sell you mine ready to go for $160.
