Decals
Time to get some markings on this thing. The decals were printed on bel decal paper and allowed to dry for a few days before the Krylon clear coat. Put on 3 light coats and let that dry. The decals are trimmed and then given one more coat of clear to seal the edges. Decals are applied in the traditional way.

Pilot
The model needs a pilot but I haven't found anything suitable at this scale.
Started out trying to carve a pilot out of blue foam. The foam is hard to work with at this scale and after a few attempts I gave up. Our grandson was spending the night and had a bunch of his toys scattered around on the living room floor. I was passing through and almost stepped on one of his toy soldiers. Hey, let me see that soldier,, snag!! Sized him up and while a tad on the small side he's close enough. A bit of dremel surgery and he just might work. The guy holding the binoculars looked like the best candidate, so I 'procured' one from the grandkid's set. First I cut the hand loose from the binoculars with the cut-off disk. The shoulder joint was heated with the heat gun until the plastic softened then his arm was bent down to his side. Same was done with the other arm. The binoculars were cut down to look like goggles. The torso was chopped off with the cut-off disk and hollowed with a burr. The plastic is fairly easy to work but it gets a stringy fuzz that is tough to remove. I tried various solvents hoping to find something that would dissolve the plastic but nothing I have would touch it. I'm just going to have to get over the fuzzy edges. Cleaned it up the best I could before paint. Painted 'Hans' and he's ready for his first mission in his new mount. I think he looks ok considering his humble beginning. Remember, he's only about 5/8" tall. Forgot to paint an oxygen mask on him before he pic. Final weight is .8grams, much heavier than foam but oh well. I don't like the look of a model flying with an empty cockpit. Glenn
