luck? who knows ...I find it interesting the blades didn't shear off ...flying off and hitting innocent bystanders...this could have been much worse.

I remember that when it happened. I had a landing like that last year with my 450 when a control arm popped. It was my first and only crash due to equipment failure. I had "slight" contol it bounced off my Jeep twice and then slammed into my friends bikes and bike rack. Then it did some lawn mowing before it finally stopped It really made me draw up. I cannot imagine what the pilot of the real heli went through!!

LoL, I had something similar happen. I had just transitioned from forward flight to a hover and was about to set down when I lost a main blade. Bounced off the gas grill and wadded itself up in a patio chair (yes, I was in my back yard ). Finally found the culprit blade 2 weeks later, about 75 yards away.

What lasted for maybe 30 seconds felt like an hour of terror!! At that point, I probably had about 100 flights on the heli and parts where starting to wear out. I only had to replace the main blades from the damage. At the same time, I replaced all the servos because I figured they probably got jammed during the crash and violent flight I also upgraded the Rx and Gyro and made a few other cosmetic mods. The feeling of having it suddenly go out of control is horrible. Since then I have at least another 100 flights on it and now it's semi retired

Looks like a StarFlex head. I'm impressed. I don't see where any head parts got broken off. Very strong and very likely to stay together in flight. I wonder how many links broke and if it needs a new main shaft ?
