What stunts do I need to be able to do before I can consider myself a 3d pilot

What stunts do I need to be able to do before I can consider myself a 3d pilot?

Rolling harriers and knife edge spins give me the most difficulty. I can do elevators, walls, harriers, hover.

If there is a link that specifies what it means to fly 3d, please let me know where to find it.

you're a 3D pilot... elevators, walls, harriers and hover... that's the core of it for sure. The rest is just more learning curve to continue to have fun.

if you can fly a wall, you should also be able to parachute. For a handy source of info, this is awesome...

I think theKM nailed if for you.

Technically, 3d is the realm of post-stall aerobatics. If you can do some of those then you are an official 3d pilot.

Well most 3D pilots have learned the "dont-drop-the-transmitter But-get-out-of-the-way You-just-lost-orientation-in-a-torque-roll Right-infront-of-you" stunt.

But as far as 3D flying maneuvers go, KM got it.

I tried 3D for about and year and couldn't get anywhere until I concentrated on my elevator manuevers, and then my harriers. I would spend the first and last pack of every day flying nothing but harrier..... no loops, no rolls.... no nothing except harrier. After about two weeks that began to pay off and harrier became so much fun that's all I wanted to do. Then the rest of it just sort of happened on it's own because I had spent so much time getting a decent harrier.

3D maneuvers are usually defined by flying post-stall, so concentrate on maneuvers where the plane is in the air only because you're on the throttle. If you were for example to cut the throttle and the plane fell to the ground than that was a 3D maneuver.

Oh and the other great move to learn is the walk of shame and the internal dialogue of which plane to buy next (and how you can afford it).

I can perform elevators, walls, harriers and hovers. So, I guess I can consider myself a 3D pilot. Though I still have yet to master rolling circles and rolling harriers, which is very frustrating to say the least . I just need to keep practicing and logging more time on the sim.

You know, I also fly helicopters and I can perform flips, rolls, loops, hover inverted and perform inverted forward flight; however, according to most heli pilots, I'm a sport flyer and not a 3D pilot because I've yet to perform maneuvers such as piro-flips and hurricanes. Though I consider my heli flying "light 3D." There appears to be several opinions on what determines 3D with the helis. Anyway, sorry about hijacking the thread by talking about helis .

Racin,

Here are a couple of rolling circle tips:

1. Practice 4-point roll and 8-point roll circles. Get these down first. Then as the points flow together you have a rolling circle. This will help you learn orientation, correct rudder inputs and keep the circle level.

2. Keep the rolls relatively slow and watch the nose of the plane. Keep the nose level. Too may guys concentrate too much on the roll and let the nose drop and then you have trouble
