StevensAero - re-Run™
I really like the lines of this little chuck glider from Stevens Aeromodels. It has a classic charm.
Forgive the videography. It was a bit silly of me to maiden and record at the same time. I think the model is a bit nose heavy.
The fuselage is made up of three slabs of balsa. The middle one can be cut out to accept your 1s Lipo and micro receiver. Servos can be mounted as you see fit.

This is the first balsa kit model I have ever built. It went together in an hour, faster than any arf I've built. Be sure to read the instructions carefully and then think about the required action before applying superglue. I made one or two silly mistakes that simply could not be undone, fortunately they were not significant errors
The kits are very inexpensive and come with a coin for ballast (moneyback scheme ).
The wing is undercamber and I set cg halfway along the rib closest to the fuselage. If I did this again I would buy two kits. One built as a chuck glider could be used to determine CG.
I see more balsa in my future.

whats your Rx system? JR compatible?72mhz
i want a wrist-rocket style launch, micro thermal riding machine.
Have you found it?
I'd begin to design one if I had the radio gear. What's it take?

I wouldn't call the result a thermal machine but it slopes quite nicely.
Gear is as follows:

I look forward to seeing your design

Thanks for the referrals, Andrew. Great prices for each($10Rx, $2batt,$3servo). I'd have to pick up a 2.4ghz Tx, and didn't see a combo available from HobbyKing.
My interest is in building a "low" performance 2ch glider that JrHigh students could build and launch with a small bungee. We have no slope, but would enjoy a short flight, with maybe a loop before touchdown.
My search continues, and I thank you for sharing your design.
Would it handle a bungee launch (light weight elastic cord from the fabric store) or maybe a tow launch from running students?
