Question? I have the DFC head. On the of the "draw bars?" there is a double ended bolt threaded into the bottom to which you thread on the plastic ball link. Should the bolt be lock tited in place or is/can it be used for tracking adjustment??

Thanks
Kerry

The metal to metal side must be thread locked or it will work loose and pull out, over time. Be generous with the thread lock and just wipe off any excess.

Unfortunately zero pitch adjustment is one turn at a time, or a half turn and push the link on backwards, or you can use turnbuckles on the servos, and adjust all three for fine zero pitch.

What do you mean by "half turn and push the link on backwards"?

I think my blades are not identical, one seems to have a greater angle than the other. I can't seem to correct it using only full turns on the DFC contol link.

I am getting turnbuckles for my 550. Ideal for setting the swashplate perfectly level.
But I can't seem to find any DFC control link turnbuckles. At least not for KDS.

KDS.
Never mind, I figured out what you meant.

Since this is my first build, I am feeling very protective and would not be willing to risk having the DFC control link pop off in flight.
I am currently investigating whether a DFC turnbuckle from other helicopters could be adapted to my KDS 550.

One last thought, the ball links are not pre-threaded, right?
They acquire their thread when the soft plastic is first screwed onto the link rods.
With an ample supply of fresh links, I could experiment with screwing them on, using different starting angles. Through trial and error I may get that half turn I need.
Please correct me if my thinking is wrong.

The instructions tell you to put the ball links on with the letter "A" facing out. The links are slightly larger on the opposite side to make it easier to put them on or take them off. You can put them on backwards but it takes more force, same on removal. It can also open the link slightly if repeated too many times. If you use one backwards just keep an eye that it doesn't get loose if you put it on and off a lot. Once you get it right you shouldn't need to remove it.

Kerry

The only DFC turnbuckle links at the moment are the HeliOption ones for the Align 500/550/600/700. I have these for my 500 and 700, but haven't fitted them yet. They certain look very nice.

Even though the ball links are designed to be pushed on from one side they can still be push on from the other side, with some force, if you really need that half turn of adjustment. The one positive about this is the link is less likely to come off.
