How about iso the fiberglass (I assume) wing spar, a CF one?

Anybody have a source for a CF tube that's 10mm od x 8mm id x 800mm long?

SFG Performance

You guys who have flown both with & w/o the sfg's...are they worth putting on??

That thin foam seems pretty flimsy...hard to imaginge them having an effect one way or another?

Or are they just for looks?

I embed CF strips vertically down the near the center of lift. Makes it very stiff.

How about an alum tube, 10mm x 800mm x .045"? Maybe like a heli boom?

That's what I was planning to do. I checked the inside diameter and it's 7.8mm. I don't think an 8mm will fit inside.

Mods Prior to Maiden Flight

After looking this thing over I decided no way was I going to maiden the plane on factory control linkages etc. So the pics show a few of the upgrades that I have done. For the elevator/rudder I'm trying those NewPower servos from EPbuddy. Cost around $7 each and are BB 17G with metal gears. So far I like them. Have also replaced the rudder/elevator with pinned hinges so they move nice and free without limit restrictions. Also balanced the prop which was way out. Static bench tested the setup at 100% power with max 35 amps. Idle current is 200 mah with motor off. Replaced aileron linkages with 2.5 mm pushrod and heavy duty clevices. Will pull the servos after a quick test flight and replace with NewPower along with adding pin hinges to ailerons. I could not believe how weak and flimsy the factory stock servo arms are. They are like paper thin and the servos have a lot of slop in the output shaft around center. The NewPower as no slop whatsoever.

Where are you guys is the best measurement for CG with either 1800 or 2200 packs.

Whoa, ace!! Thx for that info on the NewPower servos....and here I thought epbuddy was only about ichargers & paraboards!!

I looked at the specs on that 9g digital for like $7 and my jaw dropped

42oz of torque at 5V?? From a 9g servo??? Man I had to read that twice...if these things center well and hold their positions under high loads, then SHEESH that's gotta be one of the better deals out there on servos! I might hafta grab a couple

They look really good so far and center well with lots of power @ 6Volts. I have both digital and analog but installed the analog for less power draw.

Test flew the Sbach and landed on the club sun roof.... Or did I?
Sbach (0 min 10 sec)

Anyone try different prop combos yet so we can find the best prop for this?
