Yes, it was not to indicate who uses the A9 rather than the lack of evident issues with latency. Many other videos also show movement of the sticks & what the heli is doing. Personally i struggle to see any.

For the entire year of 2011, we were independent fliers. I did this so we can test other brand servos like Savox and MKS openly. I thought about changing to another system. But, honestly, there were no system that will enhance over what we have with Aurora 9. I wrote on RR somewhere about silliness of latency. Most look at only one thing which is the tx rx latency difference of 30ms if you are comparing with a 20ms system. That is 0.03sec.

This latency is different than what you see in video games where you are reacting to someone else's move which you can't predict.

With helis, the latency is comprised of;

Air density / temperature
Damper condition
Servo speed / torque (torque is more important as it gives more consistent speed with load)
Tx Rx

Overall, servo speed will give you the maximum delay as it will take upto 150ms to travel from one end to the other. Which means you have to anticipate that and make the moves in advance.

As the damper wears, it will develop slop which translates to latency as it takes the heli longer to react etc.

So, while faster is better, it is not as significant as you think as we both can't tell the difference. On any given day, Justin and I fly Futaba, JR, and Spek txs as we often test fly club members' helis for tuning and setup. We really do not see any difference.

I certainly can spend $1k for a new tx setup if I believe it would help. Above video is when Justin was not spanking the heli much. Take a look at below and tell me it lacks something.

Enjoy!!

I've used many different radios and I test fly lots of models every week. To me, the 8FG is an excellent radio.
