Which 450 - Blade 450 or Trex 450 Sport V2

Finall getting around to buying a new heli to properly master. Had a HK 450 which I was learning reasonably well till crashed majorly.

So which would you get Blade 450 or the Align T-rex 450?

thanks

since you're still new, go with a flybar T-Rex 450. I recommend the sport or the V2 because they are much more forgiving for beginners. You don't want to strip out the TT gears on every landing because it was a little rough. That is the usual for the Pro and beginners.

The V2 is the previous generation to the Pro and Sport that are out now. The Pro V2 has the FBL head and 3gx unit.

Ok thanks. I think something like this would be good then.

I think I would prefer to pay the extra this time and go genuine, those damn hex screws of the HK kept stripping even with light force.

Radio is a JR XG8. I fly plenty of fixed wing electric still.

there is nothing wrong with buying genuine, but in reality the quality of the HK it up to PAR and the value surpasses many brand names.

As far as stripped screws,, i have recently built 2 HK helicopters and haven't had a single screw strip.

Roll your own price comparison

TRex 450 Sport Super Combo: $500
Plus you still need to buy a receiver.

My 450 Sport Clone: $168 Including all shipping.
Including the receiver.

My clone flies very nice thank you.

Yes, those out-of-tolerance hex head screws are a problem.
I had to fabricate an out-of-tolerance hex driver to match them.

Yeah if you're stripping screws, getting a Trex isn't going to solve that issue, using a lighter touch and thread-locker will solve that issue. The torque you need on those little screws isn't very much - about as much as you can apply with thumb and forefinger on a skinny screwdriver handle. They just need to be snugged up, not whammed down hard. If you use thread-locker correctly, that will be sufficient. Then, when you need to take them out, don't even attempt to loosen them without applying some heat first.

Great answer and one I am finally getting!

Over tightening certain screws can effect frame geometry, tail assembly and on. Just because a screw can be tightened another 1/4 turn doesn't mean it should be. Learn when to stop based on resistance. I'm not going to make a sweeping recommendation, but when it starts getting tight stop. Check other nearby screws and gently try them to see if it's the same resistance.

As soon as I patent my torque display hex driver I will let you know. Seriously people working on the real thing can't over torque a screw. Be sensitive to that!

To answer your question. I have neither heli but someone closer to the novice flyer might benefit from a Blade 450. Jasmine probably has a better idea on that.

Enjoy the journey.

Another comment to make, you will end up fixing your Blade 450, so there's plenty of time to learn the setup and mechanics ... don't worry
