Thanks.....hope doesn't take too long. That got to be result in few weeks and the plane sit here in the shop many week already.
His stab complete no trailing rail at all. That will fail instancely on first flight for sure without fixing it. You can't said nothing wrong because
EJF will held responsible for the problem that been address.

Just kidding of course. These days, if you get paid, there`s always plenty of work involved.
Lol, no kidding. It was tough. And thanks!
Apparently I beat out some ex-German Luftwaffe Tornado Pilot for the slot, so I feel pretty special!

I'm confused. Are there going to be any changes to the stab/elev design, or is the official company stance "they're fine the way they are"?

Myself comfuse too.
Is Vic speak for EJF or HET?
Are Vic words held responsible whom he reps for?
The next one crash for same flause design. There will be small claim against the seller party if no serious matter.
Even there had disclaimer for the products they sold. But Vic statement is pretty much claim there is no problem and said it alright.
That will void their disclaimer of sell.
This no joking matter Vic.
Irregant will get whom ever you reps for in big trouble.
I suggest you take those words off line and work getting the result problem solve.

what seems to be the issue the CA hinge or the design of the elevator?
I thought CA hinges are fine if they are installed and glued up correctly

Working on it. It's gonna take a while.
You have any idea how long it takes to make a good quality 4-5 minute video?!
Plus I'm working long hours at my new job... spending more time in the air than on the ground these days.

Vic

Give us a min or two of raw footage. We won`t tell.

I don`t want no fancy music anyway. I want to hear the jet.

Has a decision been made yet? I just want to know EJF/HET's stance. Once we know that, then those holding off (like me) can decide to take Vic's advice & fly the existing design with reinforced pinned nylon hinges, or start moding. Just want to know the verdict either way. Looking forward to the videos

Always surprises me just how little you actually know about me Tam!
You can whine and complain and toot a horn all you want, but it is what it is.
(the word is "Arrogance")

If you read my posts carefully and correctly, you would understand what I'm implying. But in case you can't, let me lay out what I'm thinking right here ---
I completely agree that the design needs some work; specifically a full-length piece of wood along the trailing edges of all Wing Panels and Vertical/Horizontal Stabilizers.
The Prototype had it, and that is what I "signed off" on as "good to go!"

You claim there is a problem with the design shape of the Stabilizer and Elevator, and that's why two (2) Sniper XL90's have crashed... Let's look at the facts:

- It's already determined that the Prototype crashed from a lack of sufficient strength in the Elevator Hinges. (Stock CA hinges literally tore out on a 160mph pass). However, the airframe had flown several times from October 2011 through the crash in January 2012.

- Alan's crashed for a *SIMILAR* (but not exact) reason --- There was insufficient strength in the Elevator hinges, which caused the Elevator to become ineffective (but not flutter), leading to a crash. Unfortunately, it crashed on its' maiden flight.

We now have at least Brent's and mine flying very well, at high levels of performance in both speed and manueverability, with absolutely no indications of flutter, vortex-generation causing pieces to fall off, or even insufficient amounts of pixie-dust causing mysterious problems from a speed range of about 0-150mph... (and yes I'm working on a video that proves it)

I don't just say stuff to blow off hot-air.
I don't own or run EJF (a company that sponsors me).
But remember that I am a genuine modeler, first and foremost. The things I say are what I say to my friends at the flying field and events I travel to... many can vouch for me on that respect.

What I can't be held responsible for is how *you* decide to build your model (I'm saying that in a general sense, so don't get huffy-puffy Tam).
I choose to go overkill on my models because I don't typically fly them easy. Heck, an expert builder like Brent is proving that even the STOCK hinges work IF installed correctly. I would never recommend a *mod* or *fix* to a model if I wasn't fully prepared and confident in doing said action to my own personal model. (which I have done in my current Sniper XL90).

So here's the latest up to date facts on the Sniper XL90 "Tail Drama"--- take it as you will, I'm not swaying you any direction:

- The two latest Sniper XL90's are being flown on the Stock Horizontal Stabilizer and Elevator.

- Both Brent and I simply located exactly where the wood was on the trailing edge of each stabilizer, and slightly relocated where we dropped in our hinges.

- Brent is using the Stock Cloth Hinges, installed properly.

- I am using upgraded Dubro Nylon Pinned Hinges, epoxied into place.

- There is no sign of flutter throughout any speed range from ~0 to 150mph, even during hard manuevering.

So there you have it.

Build your Sniper right, or don't.
Built right, she's a pleasure to fly, and she's quickly becoming my favorite 90-class jet model of all time.

Cheers,
Vic
