The Prototype came pre-slotted, but hinges not adhered right out of the box.
Robart makes some good hinges for sure. I think I'm gonna go with some nylon pinned hinges next time around.

"Too beefy" is not too beefy!

Any thoughts on using a DS-51 with NEU 1515/3D on 10S? How would that compare to the HET fan/motor combos?

Thx.

Have you tried to get it to CG with 2 6s 5000's? The newer packs keep getting heavier as they increase the C rating and I find it gets harder to CG my Blaze with the packs between the intakes. The Spark gets tough to CG with 12s 5000's as well.

Honestly have not.
The 4200's make for perfect balance in the Prototype, but I initially thought I might end up tail-heavy so I built it thinking 'weight-forward'.
If you plan to run 5000's it would be very easy to place some equipment further aft of the CG to compensate.

It's been a while since I've played with those fans... I know they run awesome and the new HET's motors are definitely giving NEU's a run for their money... at 1/2 the cost... so I imagine it would work well.
If you get around 3 - 3.5kw out of that setup you'll get similar performance to what you see in the videos

Other than the retract valve/servo and rx, what else could you move back? Looks like the Hyperion 5000's are about 12-13ozs heavier than the 4200's, That't a lot of weight that far ahead of the CG. I am just curious since I have run into the same issue even moving everything to the back. 10s 5000 or 12s 4000 is easy, but gets tricky with 12s 5000.

Looking at the Prototype, I could move the Retract Valve/Servo, RX, ESC, RX pack, not to mention slide the 5000's as aft as possible.

You're absolutely right though; 5000's do fit and will work great on lower cell counts, but I'm positive the sweet spot for 12s is going to be 4200's. Should get me 4 minutes of aggressive flying (the way I fly 90% of the time) or more with less time in "burner".

Here's our HET L-39 with a HET 700-83-1080 on 12s 5000's. The packs came down with 30% remaining, so 4200's would probably be fine.

efflux RC.... our L-39 at Las Vegas - 10-2011 (6 min 46 sec)

Well... that's a pretty sweet L-39... but this is the Sniper XL90 thread!

The L-39 is cavernous inside; you can fit 6500 12s no problem, lol.

Plus its harder to balance a swept wing with the packs up front than a wing like an L-39.

Are they painted in the mold or externally? Just ordered, but didn't see anywhere to pick color (or lack of).
