Help!
my plane motor went off while flying need help!

Hello Dear Members:

quickly i will go to the point i have an EDF jet & its components consist of the following:

ESC Turnigy 30A
EDF size 64mm
EDF motor 4400Kkv
Battery 1300mah 11.1v - 25-35c discharge

while flying after 5 mins the plane throttle suddenly drops from full to half by it self, then i put the throttle down and lift it up again to full throttle and it was ok and then after 30 seconds the throttle went 0% and i couldn't let the motor work again, thank god the plane was so fast so it was practically gliding so i landed it and servos where working fine, when it was in the ground i checked the battery it was a little above being warm and also the ESC, couldn't reach the motor, also i noticed the wires were hot in a not normal degree, but in the end i thing the main reason for this is that the motor max load is 26A and am using 30A ESC and most of the flying time i was on full throttle, do you think this is the reason why the plane motor fail?

Thank you folks

Is this for real?

How much did you charge back into the pack?

26A/(1.3Ahx.8)=25C=2.4min motorruntime.

A 5 minute flight would drain your pack far past safe margins. You had a LVC (low Voltage cut off) .

ok guys your feedback is very useful i really appreciate it thank you.

well i noticed now that the battery is a little puffy like a balloon though its working normally, also i would like to mention that when i land the plane i found that the battery have 20% only left, for now the ESC and the motor are working properly, am suspecting two things:

- I need bigger battery.
or
- I need to check the connectors soldering it might be not soldered properly.

what do you think guys?

To put Erik's info another way, a 1300 mah pack can do 1.3 amps for an hour, 2.6 amps for 30 minutes, 5.2 amps for 15 minutes, 10.4 amps for 7.5 minutes and 20.8 amps for 3.75 minutes, etc. Although it can theoretically be discharged at 25C (32.5 amps), it would only last about 2 minutes at that rate, and that would be pushing it.

5 minutes is WAY over capacity for that pack at anything over about 15 amps. That battery is either DOA, or about to be. Don't use it again!

You need about a 2500 pack to fly for 5 minutes at 25 amps or so. I would guess that would make your plane too heavy, however.

This is what happens if you abuse a battery like I did.

That was my first EDF about two years ago. It flies nicely, but you won't get more than about 3 1/2 minutes in the air on a 1300mAh battery without damaging the battery. It balances perfectly with this sized battery with no need to add weights.

You might squeeze in a 1500mAh battery, but you'd need to add weight at the tail to balance it. The extra weight would mean that it wouldn't fly as nicely, and would land much faster.

The foam in the nose is fairly thin. The plastic battery cage helps add strength to the fuselage above the nose wheel. DO NOT REMOVE THE PLASTIC CAGE TO FIT A LARGER BATTERY. You will snap the nose off on your first landing. Don't ask me how I know this.

I would suggest being happy with the performance on the smaller, recommended battery, and to just buy 2 or 3 others to give you more flights of shorter duration.
