Donatas Design: Sultimate V.3

Hello boys and girls, finally i receive Sultimate V3 first sample. I would say it looks amazing! I will review kit asap and give factory necessary updates for mass production. First kit is 44.5g, so with milling if we remove 9 grams, at weight of ~35g, it will be perfect kit for VPP with TVR system and AXI2203/40 motor.

SultimateVPP (7 min 19 sec)

This milled white kit in video also was just 35g.

I hope everything will go smooth and kits will be available after 4 weeks. Here are first pictures.

Another good news we made a deal with well known company in UK:

Please contact Mr.Paul and Simon if you live in UK ore Ireland, these gentleman's will be able to help you in near future.

New Sultimate is slightly bigger. Elevator and Ailerons are bigger as well. Nose is shorter (this will help to set right C.G. in case you use VPP). Also rudder is little smaller, i found with TVR system its to much loading for servo. And besides that rudder connected with TVR will give more than enought rudder authority.

The fuselage breaks often right behind the wing. Is the new fuselage wider at this delicate point?

I found that all foamies break right there, and when they do just forget about it. The carbon fuse bracing on the fuse keeps it together. All my home made designs do that and it is no surprise that these professional ones do it too. Just don't worry about it.
Look at it this way, when it does break it doesn't get any worse. It would actually be a smart idea to leave a small section there cut so that it has the give and won't make unsightly cracks.

Hi,

i usually lay/glue a flat piece of carbon (about 3 - 4 cm long) on the underside of the wing/fuselage connection. the long way. Like this it can flex a little bit, but it wont break.

this is slightly heavier than just tape - but lasting longer.

If you want to be on the very safe side, do it on the top as well.

cheers,

cyril

Yes fuselage is wider here, so it will be slightly stronger here, but if you will crash hard this will be problematic place on the kit. There are several reinforcement options, but all of them add bit of weight. My recommended 0.3mm flat carbon on sides and fiberglass cloth that is included with kit, will help allot.

Regards,
Donatas,

Donatas,
I tried to order one, but the checkout page keeps saying me email address has an "incorrect format".
The whole site is kind of "clunky"
If you are in touch with him, ask him to see what is up with it. Running Seamonkey (Firefox)

Site does not work at all in IE6, the only copy I have.

edit - tried ie8 today- same error
