Non-US based distributors needed.

I just posted this in another thread as a response to a disappointed modeler. He was discouraged by the rather extreme cost of shipping a box of MPF to Austrailia. Way, way, more than the $50 cost of the foam.

Shipping foam is expensive even locally. Unfortunatly, overseas shipment is practically prohibitive. It's expensive even when shipping a full Sea container.

Seems, like soda pop, it needs to be made locally or shipping quickly becomes the greatest cost. Coke figured out a way to do it. Maybe we just need a bunch of local "bottlers" and distributors to use our magic formula and send us a cut.Dreami ng....

I always feel sheepish when asked by a prospective customer regarding shipping Ex-USA.

It's just a darn shame.

Last plane build - a Li'l Ripper. This foam is so easy to work with I'll never go back to $TF. The plane will be around 10 ox AUW when done.

Thought I would share a pic of MPF that I printed directly to. The color came out awesome with great coverage in one pass. I have printed on EPP in the past, but had to print the image twice to get acceptable coverage.

That is really nice! I know a few that would love to be able to have the graphics printed right on the foam of thier kits.

The OcÚ Arizona 318 GL model even has a "white ink" option which would be cool. Boy I could do some nice stuff on that baby! Yeah, I'm Jealous. However at 95K, I'd have to print more than RC foam planes to make a good business case to Santa. :P

We have the 550 XT with white ink and RMO, which is a tad more.
Fortunately for me, we have the business to justify it. I have had the machine for a little over 2 months and it still blows my mind with it's capabilities.
I am hoping to try my hand at kitting in the near future. Still tweaking my design, but will report back when I am satisfied with the final product.

According to the sales literature, the front to back registration is supposed to be nice as well. Is that 4 or 6 color? I would think in AZ the Static Suppression Option would be nice to have as well. The RMO (Roll Media Option) would be nice for vinyl. The guys on the "Printed Warbirds" thread would like that. So how much to print on a 24X48 piece of MPF? Everybody's thinking it. I'm just saying it. I'll be in AZ next week. Maybe I should bring a case of MPF with me. Check it in as a $25 piece of luggage. :P

Sorry... didn't mean to hijack! We can take the discussion elsewhere.

All you foam cutters and foam printers need to get together offline and figure out a way to combine your operations under one roof someplace to get the best shipping cost numbers noodled out. Otherwise, the shipping costs will kill any efforts to make a decent product at a reasonable price.

Sample?

Anyways to get a cheap sample of the foam? $65 dollars for 16 sheets and then finding you don't like it is a bit steep. I have been using DT foam and taping it for the strength. My understanding is MPF does not hold tape as well as DT. Thats the main reason behind the sample request.

Thanks
Nightstone

I wouldn't mind getting a sample as well. I'm working my way through a stack of Blue FFF, and would be happy to order a shipment to replace it.

Could you put a $1 or $2 item on your sales list, and just send a postcard-sized piece via the mail?
