They just need to bash the box a bit more.
Only doing what the customer wants. You ordered seconds and they want to make sure that's exactly what you get.
Very thoughtful...

BB52: we had 7 orders on the 17th and all were for firsts. We ran out of them on the 16th, so unfortunately you are in the group waiting along with us for the next production run. Sorry 'bout that!

Can you tell us more about the seconds regarding the waves in the limited offer? Is it wavy right through to the opposite side? In other words, i am looking for at least 1 good side for skinning my big wing. I am almost ready to cover it on my new plane. I hope my order gets in stock soon. I think I may be getting desperate. I hope I do not have to hotwire my skins. #61

Thanks Springer,
I am mainly interested in getting this 10 foot wing covered. Naturally I do not want to end up block sanding the waves down. If waves are 1 side only they should work. I can sand 1mm. If some of them are broken corners I probably can get around them. Do you think you may have some that will be fine cover on the wing?
Thanks,
**Neons** Bob

Bob: here are some edge views showing the conditions. The first two show a sheet with 7 stripes (happened to be the first in the box). As you can see some of the stripes don't exhibit any waves or thinning, but only a difference in density. The worst wave in the pictures was about .8mm near as I can measure. The third picture was from the second sheet in the stack, and had only 2 stripes right at one edge. The rest of the sheet was essentially flat.

I can see the dips on it. If it had a very smooth opposite side I could get away with it. I have a near scale wing and that will just compound my finisihng time with the valleys. I am just going to hold off another week and see if you hear from the manufacturer. After that I have no choice but to make my own hotwire skins. Thanks for the pics. I am sure others may have interest from the views.

Hey, are any folks in this thread doing die cutting? I know there's a bunch of laser operators, but I don't have the eight grand spare right now for a laser table and I'd like to look into tooling for die cutting kits.

I think you'll find that die cutting isn't any cheaper, those dies cost some serious money if you want quality and the end product wouldn't be near the quality of laser cut. On the cheap, I'd suggest a DIY CNC router....

Oh, like a Phlatprinter or something. Yeah, that'd work, all right, but it would take a major rework of my house/office/lab to get something of that size in here. Maybe if I ditch the dining room table...

Uhh... eating your dinner off a punch press table might not be any more appealing!
