I was a bit disappointed in sales, though we had a good time.

Ken,
That is why I did NOT come to Columbus. Sorry.

I just assumed that after SANDY things were not going to be as good as expected.

B'sides I had family stuff to do that weekend in Indy.

OH well as they say :-)

Good point Bob! I am sure now that I give it some thought that attendance was probably down due to the storm.

Hey guys,

I purchased a bundle of your foam at Jr and I must say it is going to become a favorite material. Being a very busy person I need a dependable material.

Thank you for a great product!

I have not tried to use any of the "sample" we picked up from the factory on our recent visit. We have been consumed with the JR festival and other activities lately.

The manufacturer is very reluctant to sell us any thinner product. Part of the concern is that it might reduce the sales of the 6 mm MPF. Current volume is just enough to allow us to make purchases in truckload quantities. If volume is reduced it will be more difficult and expensive to achieve reasonable production runs.

We feel offering additional thicknesses will increase sales of all thicknesses because of the ability for customers to get more products from one supplier.

In addition the manufacturer feels thinner product will require R&D to develop the right product. We are trying to learn more about the other materials they make now and how they might be used in models. They make several different kinds of foam plates and trays. It's possible that some of that material might work in models. Some modelers have used foam plates and trays as source material for planes, but generally the material is too brittle and often has a shiny skin that does not take glue well.

Well, you can tell 'em that the current 6 mm MPF material is perfect for what we do, but if they offered it in other thicknesses the sales volume would only go up. Let's hear an echo on this thread, eh, boys?

I would like to see 1.5, 2 or even 3mm MPF. I doubt that it would reduce my consumption of 6mm. It might increase my consumption by giving me more flexible material options and the ability to more easily build designs that the 6mm does not suit well. The 6mm would still be used for the bulk of the structure. 1.5 or 2mm would make great skins.

I second that 3 or 2 mm for micro indoor winter planes.

I would like a more thinner foam preferably at 3mm. I think I could maybe use 2mm even if that was the size for final selection. But to find numbers that want it, I believe it would best be done with a new additional questionaire Poll. I am not a model producr though. So I use very limited amounts of foam.

MPF Tails for gliders!

Just a quick note: I've made some tail feathers for a glider from MPF foam and am very pleased with them! They are quick and easy to make. About as strong as Balsa, but lighter, cheaper and just plain better!

This is a full flying stab for a Radian that I building. First I cut out the plan form of the tail. It is doubled and sanded to a generic airfoil shape after everything else is done. Very easy to shape!

After the 4 pieces are cut, top and bottom for 2 sides, a channel is routed in all 4 pieces for the carbon tubes that the tail will pivot on to operate. Next Gorilla Glue is put along each slot and the tubes layed in them , then a heavy coat of 3M 77 is given all 4 pieces and they are put together to make 2 halves. I used about 35 pounds of weight on each half to make sure they were glued securely and left them overnight.

Then I sanded them to shape. They are covered with " New Stuff" , document lamenting film and trimmed with Econokote.

Very,very pleased with these!
