My mates folks used to live in Delmar Pde. I lived down near the soccer field (Lismore Ave). Cnr Pittwater Rd in those white units on that corner.

Small world.

The Jabiru is a great airplane.

I learnt out at Hoxton Park which is sadly no more.

I'm in Melbourne now. Don't ask !!!

Hey, I just had a look at Delmar Pde on Google Earth to try and recall where my mate Bruce lived.

It's gone! They are all units on that left hand side as you go up ! My god!

It's been years since I was last there. When did all that happen ?

Hi Rick, Learning to fly is an accepted reason to be lazy with Bruce.
Im a RC-pilot myself, thats why my submarine project is sleeping.
Looking forward to see more of him when you get the inspiration back.

Hoxton Park !!! Ha , I use to live next suburb along{ Edensor Park}, Yeah would have loved to learn there.
I know SOOOOOOOOO many units there. It all happens gradually, But in saying that DW has some great restaurants now, I think my in-laws must have one of the last houses in DW.

Hey Mats
Long time mate :} Yeah I fly the rc stuff as well, that's what lead me to wanting to learn, its not that expensive anymore to learn to fly , 20hrs is all you need and it cost about $225per hr , I reckon I've sent that much on all my rc gear :}

Is the 'Timo' (Time & Tide) still kicking ?

They used to serve a mean prawn roll with a schooner of Tooth's Old back in the day.

Man, I'm talking late 70s early 80s !!!

Here's my RC shark that I picked up off ebay. Not exactly a 25 footer but it's a lot of fun and gathers a crowd when I take it to the local pond. I pull it along behind one of my boats with a fishing line, stop the boat and then run the shark for a while.

Here's how it looks inside. 2 motors operate the tail and another drives the dive impeller. It would be fairly simple to build a bigger version along the same design, the only problem being how to make the latex skin. I guess some moulds would have to be created.

In awa!

I'm totally in awe! I live on a catamaran in the Virgin Islands. Our anchorage is used by "day boats" bringing cruise ship tourons to snorkle our bay. It's amazing how many will stop and climb up on my sugar scoops to get a better look at my boat! I decided to make a playful deturant. I bought the Bluefish kit and have altered the sail to be a fin. Painted the whole thing flat grey and figue I'll be able to bob it around to convince the swimmers to go another direction.
My problem is that I'll probably only have one or two chances of mistakes due to the salt water ruining everything if I've neglected anything. I've made "stuffing boxes out of 1/2 square PVC with a large chamber drilled in the center. The holes on the ends are slightly larger then the shafts. I have greased the shafts and incerted them through the stuffing box and then forced silicone into the chamber. Seems to be ok but I haven't submerged it as yet to check.
I'm wondering if I'm on the right track or am I re-inventing the wheel? Any insight would be appriciated.
