Anybody ever figure out a proper replacement battery option for this chopper?
It's been a fun bird, but the battery is shot.

These 130 motored mid size 3 CH helis use a 1000mah 3.7v lipo. do a search, you'll find lots of them, if it doesn't have the right connector, just remove and reuse the old connector.

Thanks. The included charger is 3.7V 800mA. I just bought this replacement battery:

http://www.focalprice.com/YE283S/Rep...er_Silver.html

How long should it take to charge? The original manual said two hours, which seems excessive.

Found Gears that work!

I almost junked my exrc skycrawler since the stock gears are stripped after a few crashes. Go to www.Xheli.com parts are cheap. $2 each + shipping.
Gear A #56P-S023-05
Gear B #56P-S023-06

Got extra batteries too at hobbypartz.com Get the Gens Ace 1000mAh 3.7 volt, $3.90 each. No soldering required. Just remove he old battery. Now she flies great. I get about 8-9 min flight times with the new batteries. I'll post pics of the other mods i did soon. Enjoy!

Same type of battery is available at focalprice with same connector. Neither of these connectors stays on as well as the original, so I decided to solder. Poof! I cant believe I shorted the lipo! Just got a newbie lesson.

exRC Sky Crawler Mods

Pictures of my mods. The canopy just pops open for easy battery changes. I also removed the flashing missile from the bottom of the frame. Reduced weight = longer flight times
I used a coffee stir stick to put the antenna in then secured it with yellow zip ties.
I also inserted a small flat washer between the gears. It helps line up the bottom gear to the motor pinion. So far it's flying great! This heli can take a beating on crashes. I'm still using the stock blades.

Ok well, after further investigating from looking around I came across the Syma S023.. from the looks of it the scycrawler helicopter looks like a rebrand of the Syma S023 helicopter.. I bought two of these choppers at an outlet store that where damaged for 5$ a piece. I'm going to order up replacement parts to fix one of the choppers and I will let u guys know if the parts fit or not...

Vdubbub86, you may have found the source of more replacement parts! BTW, do your damaged $5 S023's look like Apache helis, or like the larger S033's?

I followed CrashLord's advice about replacement gears from XHeli and 'Gear B' comes mounted to the outer shaft. Note that the parts are 'S023' numbers.

.

Wow, did not notice that.. my skycrawlers look nothing like apache hilos but I thought the parts looked pretty similar.. as of now all I need for one of the helis is new gears, and for both helis I need new shafts.. well, here goes nothing. Will order them, and ill post up my progress..

I believe the upper gear is attached to the outer shaft/lower blades. Requires a bit of disassembly but a good, easy learning experience. I have only once seen the upper gear damaged on any coax heli, and that was caused by a hard hit with the power kept on full. Is that what happened? It's ok - you can tell us.

Things your seller may not tell you about your rc heli:
1. Seller's descriptions are frequently exaggerated.
2. Most coax's need a calm day to fly outdoors.
3. Li-po battery management is critical. Read up on it or ask questions.
4. Learn to cut the throttle when crashing.
5. Certain frequencies (& infrared) may experience interference in certain areas which can cause momentary loss of control.
6. Some helis, particularly department store models, can be hard to find parts for. You may have to match that gear up from another model.

Welcome to flying, fixing and fun. There is a whole rc world to explore and lots of people here to help.
I have this one and have the same experience. The larger gears that are plastic have stripped after some hard landings and I am hoping there are replacement parts.
