The ICE100 is perfect for that setup as this is what I have ran all summer. I hold full throttle for long amounts of time and I have yet to have an issue.

Castle's ratings are also based on the controller getting 5mph of airflow over it. When you are at full throttle, there should be a lot more than 5mph airflow entering the cowling. That's if you have proper venting that isn't causing any back pressure, and the controller also has to be mounted so it will receive the airflow.

That's reassuring. I imagine your style of flying is about the hardest stress test there is. Watching your videos is what made me decide on 6S in the first place. Thanks Joe.

+1, just have good airflow and you will be fine.

6S set up question: if running 6S and some a 3s-1000 to the power the rec. How many flights would you get with the 3S battery, do you need to replace it out with a fresh pack every flight?

I run the 6S 5000 on motor and 2S 1800 Lipo for HV servos and get 6 to 8 flights before having to charge the RX pack.

Edge is ready to maiden, wow that Hacker A60 6xs has a ton of power on 6s.

Anybody running gas on this and want to part with the electric motor mount extension, PM me and let me know

I am hoping to try to get a flight or two in tomorrow. Field is still clear but after that it looks like some snow in the forecast.

Anyone know if they make skiis for a plane this size?

Thought I would share my cooling mods on this plane. Its not the neatest install but for sure works. I baffled one cowl inlet to cool the motor and it works great, I leave the other inlet open to cool my batteries. For the ESC, I made a tube out of two paper towel rolls and glued it in the lower cowl inlet. Then just mounted the ESC to get the direct airflow. I sanded open the inlet as well for more flow.

Those simple mods really keep things working better and for a longer amount of time.

Baffles work great to keep the motor cool while in the air, but my biggest problem is the heat build up after I land. I'm using really small computer fans that to fix that problem now.

I noticed that as well, once I land everything feels slightly warm. I wait a few minutes and they get even more HOT !!! What fans are you using ? Got a pic ?

I use one of these for this size of plane.

I run it off of the balance port of the main pack and just wire it for 3s, so the only extra weight you add is the fan and it's very light.

I wonder if there is any benefit to running one of those in a gasser. Put one in the opening to the canister tunnel and have it pull air thru the cowl? Be interesting to see if that would keep the temps down in the cowl?

good idea joe, I wonder if they make some that will operate at a lower voltage so you can run them off a rx pack. they draw very little power.
